A (Stevie) Wonder-ful evening
A TIME TO LOVE, A TIME TO HELP

Monday, October 24th - 9 pm to 2 am

Tokyo Lounge (3rd Floor - 1050 Alberni St. at Burrard - beside Kobe Steakhouse)

Modelled after Bobbito and Spinna's annual "Wonder-full" parties in New York, this event is a celebration of the music of Stevie Wonder, plus a fundraiser for South-Asian earthquake victims - all in one evening.

A testament of the far and wide reach of Stevie's music, the evening will feature 15 of the cities top D.J.'s representing multiple genres, playing only songs performed by, written by, and/or produced by Stevie Wonder, as well as songs by other artists who have covered, sampled or remixed works by this musical genius.

We will also be previewing songs from Stevie's first studio album in 10 years; A Time To Love, which hits stores on October 18th.

Stevie Wonder has remained one of the world's most profound and influential artists for more than four decades. Winner of 21 Grammys and the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, with more than 70 million records sold, Wonder's received hundreds of honours and awards throughout his career.

A tireless humanitarian and champion for political and social justice, Wonder was the pre-eminent force behind the Martin Luther King holiday and USA For Africa, as well as helping to raise awareness about the AIDS epidemic and the scourge of Apartheid in South Africa. A leading voice in the fight against world hunger, Wonder also led a "Charge Against Hunger" in conjunction with American Express, which raised over $150 million dollars to feed nearly six million underprivileged people yearly. Most recently, Wonder was honoured by the United Negro College Fund's Evening Of Stars Tribute to the artist, for his long-time work on behalf of the UNCF.

In keeping with Stevie's philanthropic mind-state, this event will be entry-by-donation, with proceeds benefiting The Red Cross South-Asian Earthquake relief effort.

Wow! I figure there hasn't been a huge response to this already because they either haven't read it or they're severly uneducated about some of the best music EVER produced.
