First off, I really need to stop having drinks with the groups after shows.
I've just got in after a long night at the club. Let me tell you, this show was easily one of the best shows I've ever seen in Vancouver. I've never seen anyone utilize dv-dj's like these guys did tonight. Let me start you off with the opening... Massive screen backing the act, the screen opens up with some space images, you're drawn through different solar systems and such. Next thing you know, you see the planet earth, IT KEEPS ZOOMING, next you see the western hemisphere, IT KEEPS ZOOMING, next you see north america, IT KEEPS ZOOMING, then you see western Canada, IT KEEPS ZOOMING, then you see Vancouver, IT KEEPS ZOOMING, next thing you know you're throttling towards the roof of The Plaza Club, THEN BOOM A HUGE FLASH... LIVE VIDEO OF ALL THROUGHOUT THE CLUB ON THIS GIANT SCREEN!!! (best use of google earth I've seen to date) There's nothing this show didn't hit, huge beats, ABSOLUTELY UNREAL VISUALS, and a vibe that is rarely seen in Vancouver. I've seen a lot of shows in this town and this was among the tops! |

i had such a good time last night, got there just in time to catch the last bit of blockheads set.
coldcuts performance was unbelievable. The visuals were so nutter, I think thats what really blew me away, like when it was showin the u.s. presidents and shit and just all the wacky random stuff that added some humour to the set. made it really funky and entertaining.... not to mention the music was killer as expected. what was cool was I even got to chat a bit with matt black about the latest video, thats the first show i've been to where the artists are so friendly. I was so giddy after that ha ha, those guys are gods to me. |

I feel like shit right now. late night drinking, uuuugggggghh I need fast food for this hang over. |

I was pretty upset about the show being postponed seeing as I had Saturday off and had to work at 8am on Monday. Yes, yes, I know, I know I've already been reemed out for caring about some schow schedule when someone got shot.
Now that I made it through work after that show I can say it was well worth it. A lot of hilarious clips from cartoons and political humor in the visuals. They also put faces to samples I'd heard a hundred times ("honey I've got rythyms I haven't used yet"). The flow of the show was spectacular bringing the crowd into a frenzy then dropping down to some really moody stuff. Only complaint is that it seemed a tad short, although, that could have been cause I was having such a good time it seemed to fly by.
