I've been partying for a long long time, and when I moved in with my boyfriend it meant moving in with dj equipment as well. So I figured I'd learn, no use in being around all that gear and letting it just sit there. So after months and months of frustration, I still remember the day of my first beat match. Oh for fucks sakes, I was so happy. And here I am now. :) Ever since I can remember I've been hooked on dance music. I think I was one of the only kids that had every single Dance Mix casette.. From 1990 to 1996, those tracks were kill. Growing up with european party influences definately rubbed off on me. [center] Djs that influence you? Locally? Hirshee, Soma,Christian Alvarez, RC Lair, Skilla, Deliverance, Tyler Lervis, Andrew Pacey and Nicky Delgado, [center] Robbie Rivera, Seamus Haji, Hatiras, Sander Klienenberg and Carl Cox I'll play mostly electrohouse but it may wander either way to progressive or funky Benny Bennasi - Satisfaction. I got it signed when he first came to Vancouver and his hype was huge. He was the reason I got into electro. No matter what his deal is now, I'll always remember the first time I laid eyes on him. Pretty starstruck, but then again I was a young little girl, that loved the track and just barely got into the djing thing. I look back at it now and laugh. Well I was a Stone Temple resident on Wednesday nights, but I got a new 8-5 job so thats pretty much over lol. AND...I was resident at Club Blox in Richmond couple years back. That was ruff. Scary place. This summer I was doing a monthly residency @ club 686 with explicit entertainment. Not yet. I'm a graphic designer, and learning all that software too me long enough. In a little while when I'm ready to take in that much information again, I might get some help with the gear and get into it. Just wanna play choons for now. I just love seeing peoples faces light up when you drop something ill. It's definately a high when you see people just loving your style. It's exciting to be part of the entertainment industry, used to being the partyer, now part of the party plans. Feels good. soma- street cred cuz of blox.. u got that right, i'll never forget the night i was playing with rob...
i just finished my breaks set, and rob came on.. one of the guys threatened him with a mashedi to play hip hop... we didnt have any hip hop. thank god for security. even though they dont do much to help lol. freaken bullets flying, fights starting and deals going bad.. that place is one skkeeeetchy place. |
