Kicking off its 1st week properly....

This night is the start of something new and something different that brings together all sorts of shenanigans through breaks, with a splash of house, and occasional dnb. Each week we'll change it up a bit, showcasing some of the great local talent vancouver has to offer, in a casual lounge atmosphere.

Come down this Friday for the opening night featuring Vancouver favorite:

Before this happened, staff @ Uranus were not required to screen/patdown patrons..... basically anyone could walk in with anything. Since then, cameras, metal detectors, and proper downtown searches have been implimented... its too bad it took something tragic like this to happen before the clubs security policies were re-worked.... however, the problem has been dealt with.

sounds like it will be good times there...

about the shooting, it is true that they are taking every step to ensure their patron's safety after the incident. so i don't think theres too much to worry about.

I just got some really shitty news..

Uranus Lounge has been shut down by the city temporarily for review of their occupancy, liquor license and all that. The owner knew about this a week ago, and didnt bother telling me until I called to arrange going down there to set up.

this night will be postponed until we either find a new place, or he gets his stuff in order... mark my words, this isnt the last of 'get FUNK'D'

Boo...

Normally clubs with recent shootings undergo media paparazzi with lengthy investigations.

Most clubs shut down as a result of low profits. For example: Loft Six, Purple Onion, Aqua Lounge, and now Uranus.

Most of the big clubs are under strict security restrictions and appear to be edging to that point as well (i.e. Plush, Richard's on Richard's, and Atlantis).

Look for a venue with new management or hasn't been in the media spotlight recently. Any club/venue that has been tagged in the last six months in the news is difficult to get patrons to.

I agree with you 100%.

It sucks.., but seemingly, this sort of thing has happened before, and will happen again...

Something bigger and better is in the works. :)
