This year's Shambhala was great, and next year will probably be even better. Everything was pretty last minute for me, so I was about as unprepared as you could get. I also want to get there earlier this time. I was in the overload camping lot, which was kinda bunk actually. I knew someone who had some room in the regular camping spot, but it was a hell of a walk to bring all my shit up there. |

^ the people at this party is what really made the difference for me.
I've never had the pleasure of being among such a huge collective of what seemed like some of the world's nicest, open minded, caring people. There were a few bad apples sure, but the sheer size of the good that glows from this community is just phenomenal. |

It was an amazing party. You can't really explain it to people who have never been, but it has a vibe that you can't find anywhere else in the world.
On that note, does anyone know the song the Freestylers played twice at their peak? It was the bald guy who dropped it and right when he did he stopped the music. Then he rewound the whole thing to the rise and let it play through a second time. He did this both friday and saturday night. Chorus is kinda like: "do do do do do doooo do do doo do do doooo" ( with a dawwwww twang ). Wow this all sounds like jibberish. In any case it was a great song. |

Dont know the name of the track but i do know which one you are refering to.. THAT IS A MONSTER! WOW. Bassline and a half. Thats the only track that really stuck out in my mind. I was pretty messed and I remember thinking that it was a mind blowing track at the party but forgot how it went but came back to me just yesterday. Its gotta be a new freestylers track but I wish I would have got the name of it.

^totally agree. definitly the set of shambhala for me.
favourites: malente bassnectar (sunday) amanda rude SS OTT Shpongle Small Town DJs Neighbour Kraddy DJ Dopey Killa Kella fuck, i could go on. third year going, and i had a fucking blast. seems to get better every year. each year is a new and different experience. the place is beautiful, the sound is amazing, the vibe is never-ending good, and the production just ups and ups each year. i'm always impressed. after the rain on the first day i was a little worried, but after that cleared up it was clear sailing from then on. we got a nice shady spot and slept a good ammount each night after partying hard. the only complaint i have would be with the shitty paper wristbands. bring back the plastic ones. if you're going to have a party where people are there for five nights (including wednesday night pre-camping) then you need a wristband that is going to last the party with them. can't wait to go back. pics soon. i got tons of pictures and video. |

Had an amazing time, much better then last yr imo, but I knew what to expect this time round and was alot better prepared for what ever the weather decided to do. Plus showing up for the early camping was a much better idea, found a great spot to setup the hammock . Bass nectar and hallucinogen were awesome! Met so many "interesting" people lol. I could have stayed up there another week easily, all the great people and clean air makes it hard to come home. Cant wait for next yr :)

Lawgiverz was totally the highlight of my experience. I've never seen so many confused crackheads leave a dancefloor before. Gotta love e-tards too dumb to look for and find the beat. They really don't know what they missed. Props also to the puppet show, DJ Dopey, edIT (even though he's a total chach on stage), Shpongle, and the circus.
I'm not going back next year, though. This was probably the sketchiest party I've ever been to. There are way too many bad chemicals in the scene these days (someone from my camp ended up at the chill tent on Friday and another almost got punched for tweaking/freaking out). I've never seen so many shivering dudes in blankets eating ther faces off on a dancefloor before. There was just too many people there in general anyway; every time something good came on (like Hallucinogen) the floor was packed so tight I couldn't move, and if I didn't move people bumped into me constantly. No move = no fun. I felt like I had my ass kicked all weekend. Nice call with having less bathrooms this year than ever before too. That was awesome. If this party doesn't end soon, it's going to end in a massive riot/police raid. Watch your asses, people. Death is in the air.You may be a pedophile if you can't stop thinking about sex when seeing a preteen naked. If you've ever spent time around a kid before, they like to be naked. Why wouldn't they be naked at Shambhala? Sounds like someone just wanted to oggle boobies. The Penthouse is still open, isn't it? |

yeeeesh..... ... party on Ishkur :208: kidding aside, some people say it was the best shambhala they've been to, others say it's going to hell in a hand basket and they won't attend another. what it comes right down to is, shambhala is what you make of it. There was dirty rotten shit out there, but not anything you wouldnt find at a house party or rave. I don't really get what all the huff is about. I'll post my review as soon as I've finished processing the journey. |

The vibes were bad from minute one. This was the first thing I saw at this year's Shamb: We were in our car waiting to get searched when the car behind us gets pulled over and shit thrown everywhere. To our right, we noticed some kid with a backpack on walking around being followed by another security guard; the kid ends up walking right into the guard who was tearing arat the car behind us, who immediately started wrestling with him and tosses him to the ground. I never saw anything like that the other two years I went. It was still mostly fun and all but I think coke/speed/meth is finally really starting to kill the scene. Everyone is playing so fast now to keep up with the crackheads. The chill/beach stage didn't play any chill all weekend long; two years ago, the first thing I heard going to the beach was whale song. |

OTT was fantastic. Saw Bassnectar twice. He did not disappoint. Especially on Sunday night in The Village. Hehehe I saw you a total of three times. Once at the beach, once in the fractal (i think), and one last time when we were loading up to drive home. I was too shy to say anything. Only regret was missing Amanda Rude's Speed Garage set. Speed Garage is so awesome to dance to in the AM. Will post more about my Shambhala experience when I have the chance. |

i didn't really notice that. OTT was pretty chill and so was whoever was playing at the beach in on monday morning. i actually really enjoyed a lot of ambient stuff this year.

Our camping area had some of the coolest, most chill, creative, enjoyable people I've ever met. Not people who nearly got punched out for being freaky druggies. |

Did any of you go to Summer Break? Same deal there. As the quality of the drugs goes down, so too does the quality of everything else in the scene. Last edited by Mangle; Aug 21, 06 at 09:44 AM. |

Ahhhh Shambhala...
Where do I start? I brought my very good friend Jesse for the firsty time, and he did Shamblkes like a champ. So here is how my vacation went... Jesse and I arive and Dave and Ryans in the COQ tuesday night around 10pm. Bobby T, Jake, Kiri, Jarmin, Dave and Ryan are all getting ready. We all tuck ourselves in around midnight, we are all SUPER excited about what is to come! Wed morning at 5:30am we are on the road. Stopping for gas, smokes and coffee we are on the highway by 6am. I washed my hands like crazy in the subway in Castlegar. Knowing this would be the last time I would use hot water for 5 days... We get into the line at about 3pm. Chill out in the line for about 3.5 hours then into the party we go. Cheap wristbands this year huh? Hoping they don't do that again next year. So we set up camp (which is in a sweet spot this year) best one I've been in so far. Deep in the trees in the back of the grounds. Could hardly hear the music when I went to bed. That night the grounds keep erupting in cheers (one of my favorite things about going in a day early). We all sit around and drink the beer that didn't get taken away from us and go to bed early. Prob about 11pm. Thursday morning I'm woken up by Jared. I haven't seen him in months because he moved back home. He comes crashing into my tent yelloing my name. Time to get up. We set up our site, tarps, hammiks, chairs etc... and we head to the beach. At this point the weather is looking poopy. And sure enough while I'm in the river with soap all over me it starts to rain. This doesn't stop me from going in the river for anothewr 20 minutes though... It continued to rain off and on till Friday afternoon. Thursday night (know as sober Thursday) we drank and danced in the rain at the beach stage. FUN!! Also ate some hambergers before heading back to camp at about 2am. Friday Wells and Derek found us. Alrerady drunk and on a bunch of K at 10 am. They had just got in and hadn't slept. So Jesse and I go hang out with them for a while. Wells is a handfull.... Friday night: All I could do was look around a smile. It felt so good to be back. Hung out in the forest in the begining. Made it over to the mainstage where I saw Vinyl Ritchie. He played some Zeppelin and some Jungle so I was a happy camper. Then I found Wells, Kavan and Derek... They had locked themselves outta their camper. All their warm clothes, liqour, drugs etc were in there. So we tried to figure out a way to break in. Didn 't work. It was on some other dudes credit card. I wasn't allowed to throw a rock. :( Anyways, ended up back at my campsite, hung out with a VERY sketchy Jeremy and Frank then went to bed. Saturday hung out at the beach with Jesse, build a rock tower thing, hung out with COQ. Ate some damn good food from the venders. Went shopping for some shit at the other venders. Saturday night... JUNGLE!!!! Werd to the village. :) No seriously though, SS was awsome. I had a blast. Smoke my yearly joint with Jeremy. Ate some food at 4am with Jake. Drank some green tea to warm up (we were sooo cold) then headed over to the beach to see Krady. Met up with the crew there, danced, it got light out, I went to bed. Sunday, went swimming, hung out at the beach, got some jewlery from the venders, Walked around etc... Sunday night. Lorin in the Village... Again, amazing. Krady in the Village so much fun, The speed garage in the forest at 5am... And so face girl was born... I don't know how to put the video on here, but once someone shows me how, you can all watch face girl over and over agian, just like we did... Monday- off to the cabin... I don't know how Shambhala keeps getting better than the year before, but it does. Best year so far. Good vibe, good people, GREAT friends. 50 more weeks till Shambhala!! |
