I should add that I really hope all of this gets ultimately worked out between those involved. Although I never caught Reid's set, several established peeps in the city have confirmed that she's an accomplished and respected artist and we need peeps like her to continue to want to come back to Vancouver!

Promoters shouldn't treat artists like that. It should have been handled professionally, and Reid should have had a chance to speak.

The amount of horror stories I've heard from this party is ridiculous. Silverwaters used to throw stellar parties.. Kick It Back, Samurai of the Jungle.. fuck, those were great nights. Maybe they should have just stuck with the undergrounds.

ok, I agree the initial post was obviously inflated and embellished, and those of us with 2 braincells in our heads can figure out without having been there that she's probably exaggerating...and you are one of the few voices of reason in this thread...

But did I really just read that? It looks like you're implying that she should have done something to stop a guy from jumping another guy. Yeah, I'm sure if that was you, you would have jumped right in there and physically stopped it from happenning.........

But artists are entitled to be diva's to promoters? Hardly....

This is hardly a horror story. Commander Tom was a horror story.

She encouraged the fight though....hardly stopping it.

And you don't know me, don't pretend you do. Had I been there, and my friend had been jumped, damn rights I would have jumped in and tried to stop it.

@ Agro: i like Josh too, he's a good guy... but maybe not cut out for event management so much. Fuck ups like this are bad for everybody - other promoters, ticket vendors, partiers, DJs, etc. personality quirks are not an excuse.

^Woah, ok,I definitely was not and never have even remotely pretended like I know you. It was a sarcastic comment that was perhaps misplaced. Let's not get all snippy because we disagree on something.

perhaps I should re-word...

I don't think it's logical to expect a small girl to do something to stop/prevent a physical fight between 2 guys she doesn't know.

edit: outposted, for Avana.

maybe not entitled.. but the fact is, they're the ones offering the service. Promoters should realize that. People don't go to a party because of the setup.. they go to a party because of the lineup. So regardless of whether it's right or not, it's something promoters should take into consideration. Do you think it was easy to book Zeppelin, even in their early days?

I posted to Reid for 2 reasons: 1.) so she knows who I am as clearly she didn't remember and 2.) For her benefit, I wanted to make sure she understood our conversation.

I already chatted with Josh and Kristine after that and as I was leaving. Kristine even thanked me for trying to help out.

I'm not saying your taking sides, nor am I even directing it at you, what I am saying is that the dispute is between the artist and the promoter of the event... The artist has EVERY right to make sure everybody knows as to what has happened since the question has remained in the air. Anyone who introduces themself being affiliated with "such and such" given this escalated type matter can leave a bad taste in one's mouth. Do you think she honestly cares who you are given as to wtf was happening? One being involved can easily be considered as being associated.

It isn't logical for anyone having to jump in, cause it shouldn't have happened in the first place. SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE ENCOURAGED IT.

Tiedye - respect is earned, not a god-given right cause someone knows how to change a record. I have had the worst of the worse when it comes to DJ's. Some of them haven't been booked in Vancouver EVER AGAIN cause of that attitude. Promoters need them as much as they need promoters. It is a two-way street.

Ok, sure. I wasn't there so I obviously can't argue on whether she encouraged it or not.

But that's not what you said initially. You dissed her for not "preventing" it. Do I need to go back and quote you again?

I agree. I'm not justifying his actions.
I'm just saying he's a funny guy that way.

He's not the best under high stress situations. So he was smart enough to work with others who will take care of that for him.
But now I'm semi retired so things have been nuts again!

I think he just needs a vacation

reid and this situation was a classic example of the saying:

"if you arent part of the solution, you are part of the problem"

if she was infact being screwed around, which i didnt see AT ALL, she should have worked harder to keep her cool, NOT discuss it with random partiers (why air dirty laundry right from the get go?), and not mouth off in such a nasty way. nor should she have started demanding things and then come on to drama central, and blow things apart even further.
who wants to bet she hasn't even attempted to contact josh or kristine since the night of the show?

ridick.
lock.
