Hit and run... fucking bastard
So i had a particularly lame day at work today. Had to get up at 530 to be at work for 630, really busy, and apparently people didn't know how to tip today...
So im leaving and i walk up to my car which is parked right outside my work... I see a piece of paper under my wiper blade and immediatly think "fuck, parking ticket... goddammit!!!" Turns out that its a note from somone that witnessed my car getting hit by another. The entire rear quartersection is caved in. The person who left the note wrote down the liscence plate # of the car, as well as the color and model. I am faced with an ethical dilemma. Should i just claim that I witnessed that accident, or should i be honest and say that a witness recorded that info? I know that if i do the latter, ICBC will tell me to go fuck myself... |

did the witness leave there contact info? and ICBC can always do a check on the paint left on your car and match against the car that took off, as I imagine they will prob try to claim it themselves. The sooner you do it the better imo

who cares if there's contact info or not.
call icbc tell them your car got hit and runned, and someone left a note with the license plate. icbc will do the rest. hit and run is a hit and run. it's not like it makes a difference if you saw it or not. if anything, it's worse because you're the owner, you have the most to gain if something was sketchy. besides, is it believable that you witnessed your car get smacked and then waited around a few hours before doing a damn thing? didn't call icbc, didn't call the police? that's sketchy as hell imo. |

I told the truth. We will see if my honest is rewarded.
I know the plate number of the car, as well as the model and color. So if i get screwed, I will keep my eye out for it. I'm thinking I would slash all the tires, break a couple windows and leave a note on the windshield with "karma" written on it... fucking asshole |

ICBC would recover from the person that did the damage. Nothing really to worry about. I'd report it to the police as well, maybe they willl follow up with charges on the driver? Last edited by Technix; Oct 08, 06 at 02:48 AM. |

the area of the damage, paint rubbing, rusting etc shows approximately how old the damage is. this inspection combined with inspecting Heff's car should give an idea if this damage/accident was possible. ie: if heff got rear ended and buddy's trunk is smashed. obviously the wrong guy. most likely there's some paint rub on heffs' car. *earlier this year icbc sent me a letter to tell me i ran from an accident. i went in, they checked my car and figured out that the person they were looking fors' plate that was only 1 digit off from mine. we all know icbc sucks blah blah blah, but have some faith in the system. for every one of those bullshit stories some bitch whines about there's about 1000 accidents that was fixed without any problems. |

Yea exactly, if this guy didn't go and repair his car right away, it will have the marks on it,too, which is evidence..... |

wow - some of the advice in this thread.....
ICBC is probably going to say that unless you have a have a file number with the police, cause you need to report any hit and run's to the police once they happen. Witness or not. The witness will be willing to testify if they left their contact information, and as long as you provide all the information that you can, and have called the police - everything will swing in your favor. If you lie, embellish, or not tell the entire truth, your insurance can be voided. ICBC has not covered someone for less. |
