Attempted Rape...

Soooo..One of my best friend's is walking to Coq Centre from Island Tan in the early evening afterschool today when she is attacked and thrown to the ground from behind. This fucking asshole attempts to rape her but seeing as how shes kicking and screaming he proceeds to stick his fingers up her school uniform skirt and continues to molest her..Meanwhile they are on a busy road, sure its getting dark but there are cars whizzing by... but does anyone attempt to stop? NOPE..Finally he realizes hes not gonna be able to fuck her so he gets up and takes off..My friend ran into a nearby store and called the cops but hey guess what the guy got away... no surprise. These kinds of people make me sick to my fucking stomache...My friend is now left abused ,scared ,emotionally scarred and unable to trust any guy..she told me while she was in the restaurant she was looking at every guy terrified that one of them might be him coming back for her. What the fuck is happening in this world of ours..They should bring back the death penalty and wipe all this scum off the planet..5 years in jail or w/e shitty lame ass penalty these criminals are given does shit all..these people should be executed..but sickly tortured first..Anyone agree...?

I agree with the lame penalties that we have - death penalty definitely sounds more threatening but I don't understand why the government wouldn't want to use it. It would surely 'get rid of the scum' like you said.

I hope your friend gets better. I was watching a TLC program about rape and most women are able to recover. It may take up to six months at the most.

They said that most people just lower their defenses down, but yes, you're right cause no one ever 'recovers' from a traumatic experience - they only start feeling easier and more comfortable about it. That's about it.

This coming from someone who has a slim to nothing chance of ever being raped. You recover from a broken arm. You do not recover from being raped..violated..

OK, be all negative about it. I don't get raped but I can get emotionally or mentally scared in some other way. So what. I will just take it like a man (because I can) and learn to accept it and get comfortable with it. I'm not saying she can do the same but I was just trying to implant some optimism and hope into the victim. You can't be a victim your whole like because of something that happened once. Of course you will be afraid of it happening again, but that's something you gotta train your mind to start dealing with. That's what the whole program on TV was all about. Learning to deal with it.

In BC the only times where a convict will be held in prison till his court date is if they kill somebody. Now ask your self how poor the justice system is in this province.

Fyi, Canada does have the death penalty, but it only comes into effect if you ever manage to kill the queen or some other royalty.

EDIT: PS: The death penalty does nothing, these people need to get rehabed, not killed. Look at the states, execute people left right and center, and their crime rates are still astronomical. The death penalty is the ultimate specific deterant, and that is all.

The guy that attempted to rape her is obviously mentally fucked. Even if he knows he is facing death, he won't care, it's just like a junky looking to get his fix..do they care if they have to beat the shit out of someone to steal a wallet to get their fix? No.

wow that's a horrible thing to happen to anyone. I hope she can get some counciling or talk to someone who's gone through somehting like that, it helps. I was attacked once in Japan, forced against a car as a man tried to kiss me... I struggled and freed myself then took off into a nearby convenient store. Couldn't call the police because I didn't even know what to tell them. What good would it be describing a person as, skinny, medium height, middle aged japanese man in a business suit? I hope she was able to give any kind of description to the police to help them catch this man.

that's got nothing to do with B.C., it's rare in any independent just legal system that someone will be held without bail unless it's a capital offence or they're a flight risk or they pose a demonstratable risk to the public. It's called presumption of innocence, you have to be PROVEN guilty. And you're not a "convict" until you've been convicted....

^^ (for projectone) i know. there's been a few times i've been coming home where i've been on the verge of calling my roommate to come out and meet at the bus stop because creeps won't leave me alone.. or they try and follow me home. it's disgusting.

luckily no one has gotten that far with me before. but i know way too many girls who it has happened too. i've had some pretty shitty experiences myself, and i know how bad they make me feel.. i can't even imagine what it's like once it goes farther.

nothing will happen to whoever it was, if he's even ever caught. it's like all the child molesters that roam free with just a warning that they have to stay away from children. ohhh big deal. is that really going to stop them?

i dont' agree with the death penalty, but i'm a big fan of the idea of castration.

A friend of mine was in jail for a few months, and they had a library where they could all go and get books to read while serving time. A guard stood while 5 or 6 guys got books at a time. Well apparently one of the guys in the group my friend happened to be in the library with that day was a convicted rapist (he raped some gunderaged girl i believe). Well, the guard just tipped off a couple of the guys about why the rapist was in there, and then just turned his back... The 5 dudes including my friend then proceeded to kick the shit out of the said rapist, while the guardknowingly stood there with his back turned... Vigilante justice can be sweet... The point is, while it doesn't make what happened go away, people eventually 'get theirs'. I didn't ask if the guy got regularly beaten, but it would seem that way (especially since the guards seem to love it :P)

This doesn't have anything to do with rape, but in highschool, one of my friends was picked on by this big oafish bullly practically every day for some time. Even when people offered to retaliate for him he insisted that they didn't,and that he'll get his someday (karma man!). A few years after graduation, they spotted the bully in public.. Apparently he was in some car accident and became paralyzed from the neck down.

There have been studies done in the US that question the effectiveness of castration,both surgical and chemical.You cant have one without the other IMO and I think it would be wise to implement such things to repeat offenders.But that still doesnt help the first,second or even third person that they raped.

Something needs to be done to stop rapists before they start,so that no person should ever have to deal with the shame and fear that comes after such a traumatic experience.I also beleive that there needs to be more help for victims of rape,particularly that of ethnic women where in most cultures blame is placed onto the woman for being raped.I beleive that this is something that is also quite prevalent in western culture as well,but admittedly has been a decrease with each passing decade.

If some fuckup gets off on raping women, I don't think having his knob chopped off will be any more of a deterrent (might even drive him to do it more, especially since he now cannot get any tang the traditional way). A guy can still be forceful, violent, and sexual (sexually violent?) without a wang (that was probably inadequately small in the first place).
