There are so many jobs out there..sometimes you have to work a shitty job (fast food) to keep you going.. I hope everything works out for you. I have just applied for a second and third job, just to increase the cash flow a bit. I hate paying interest..so im trying to pay my car loan off in 1-2 years instead of 5 =/ |

I fully agree. There is no excuse for unemployment.
Hell, I'd respect you ( not YOU specifically, but people in general) more if you were to take a job at Wendy's for $10/hour or doing another bullshit job like that, which you absolutely hate, than seeing someone waste their days away doing who only knows what. You can still hunt for jobs while you work at your current job! I know the job search can be tedious at times, but once you pass that 30-day and no job point, somethign has to be done and said to that loser. It's more respectable to be a contributing member of society than to sit at home and masturbate all day. When I first moved out here, I had a job lined up for me, but turned it down as soon as I found out that what I was told about the job back home was entrily different than what they wanted me to do, I took my pride and left. I was unemployed for a total of 16 days before I got a new job. Every day, I hunted the wanted ads in the paper, and the job boards online. I sent out a ton of resumes and got a few interviews. It's not that hard folks! Ugh, I just don't understand why people can be so lazy sometimes, and then expect sympohy from those who do their part and lead a somewhat successful life. To Bittner: Get off your ass and do something with your life. |

Unemployment is not so bad, it's just not having money that sucks. If I won the lottery, I wouldn't lift a finger, I'd retire tomorrow.
Debt is another story; Owing money is not a new occurance, everyone owes someone in some aspect whether it's business or personal loan. Business loans carry expensive interest rates which can really screw up your finances depending on the size of the loan (eg. $10,000 @ 5% is $500/12=$45 a month) Some people spend all there money repaying the interest on there loan and barely touch the principal, which is the portion causing the interest in the first place. So, by becoming employed, we enable ourselves to payback the money we owe and we also have a place to go in the morning, instead of watching Judge Judy or The Price is Right. Here is the price you pay to work= your time you could be doing something creative, you time you could be masturbating, your time you could be sleeping, your time you could be walking downtown (preferably stoned), your time you could be playing video games, your time you could be talking to someone in another country, etc. VS. a paycheck that enables you to be self-sufficient/ a contributing memeber of society, new TV, new DVD, Surround 5.1, new computer, new car, mortgage payment, etc. But, what if it didn't matter? |

It is an employees market right now. In the last week, I have turned down 7 interviews from resumes that I sent out. There is a serious shortage of skilled employees out there....most employers are willing to train even if unskilled. |

This is true... I'm getting calls from places i've applied to like 6 months ago. And I've been finding a lot of employers (retail and restaurant mostly) posting up 'help wanted' signs all over the place. employers are dishing out jobs right now in whatever field. there's a huge rotation of old farts (baby boomers) retiring and college/university/trade grads picking up those jobs that are opening up.
