People who don't get their way
All morning, I've been dealing with quite possibly the most annoying ex-staff member I had ever dealt with. She's threatened legal action should things not go her way.
What she's arguing about? She wants direct deposit. I explained to her that it takes three weeks to be fully ready two weeks ago when she asked about it. Her paycheque was mailed (obviously because direct deposit wasn't set up yet). That's what she's all pissy about. Now, I know that legal action cannot be taken against me or my company for anything like that, but still, what balls.. I'm too busy to be dealing with shit like this (so busy, in fact, that I'm here on FNK!) It's sad how those who don't have things go their way will write threatening emails, lie, do just about anything to get their way... I thought we all stopped this in grade 5? |

Actually, if she quit, or was terminated, she has a leg to stand on.
If she quit laws state that you have to have her final paycheque, and paperwork to her within six business days of her final day, this includes time to mail it. If you terminated her, it is within 48 hours. |

I employed her, she quit. And it's 30 days from the end of the last pay period. I don't know where you get your information, but this is my job, and I know it like the back of my hand. Thanks :) |

The Employment Standards Act of BC. You should probably read it some time.

Would I honestly be in the position I am in had I not read it front to back? |

I am questioning how you got the position yourself....
It is there in black and white.....wait, I will make it easy so you don't have to look for it.... If employment is terminated 18 (1) An employer must pay all wages owing to an employee within 48 hours after the employer terminates the employment. (2) An employer must pay all wages owing to an employee within 6 days after the employee terminates the employment. |

I think it is fantastic that people know their laws, companies should not be allowed to walk on them. |

That doesn't mean just your paycheque either. They also have to have your ROE to you within that time frame and any other outstanding paperwork.

Agreed. Too many companies take advantage of the fact that employees don't know their laws and rights and it's bullshit. |

This woman quit after 5 shifts, her "normal" pay day was within a day of her quitting... why would I create more work for myself by trying to get her cheque quicker to her when really, it'd only be about a days difference. I know my job, hense why it is my job. |

Avana's the type of person who feels it necessary to go out of her way in an attempt to make others feel like crap, or get a rise out of them... sweetheart, you don't intimidate me, you really don't. Get over yourself, just try not to fall off that horse on the way down.
Either way, I'm up to date with the employee standards act... I didn't create this thread to get in another dumb posting war with you, I'm bitching. If you don't like what I have to "bitch" about, don't fucking read it then. Pretty simple concept, I'm sure you'll understand it. |

But you have no reason to bitch. But you should be following the standards set forward by the law. But... But... But... |
