So I bought a new Laptop w/ Vista
I really don't need another but I can write it off so I didn't even think about it and bought a new HP. I get it home and begin to set it up. While its loading I wanted to check out the monitor. So I tilted the monitor as if I were to almost close it, just so I can see the design on top. Well unlike my older HP this one can only close a little bit until it triggers the standby function. Blue screeen of death, reset, Error, reset by itself, cannot locate ________.dll error. So I call HP tech support tell them what happened and they tell me to reset and nothing works.
So apparently these things don't ship with boot discs and you need to aactually burn one during setup so they're offer to send me one. Ugh no thanks I'll take it back. For a 1000 dollars and running mainly Serato possibly more audio software in the future is it worth going to a entry level mac???? |

Did you literally just tell you to restart it? If so, you got a retarded CSR. Basically all laptops these days don't ship with DVDs of Windows, but they do have an image stored on the hard drive. They should've walked you through that first of all.

Go for a new macbook and run bookcamp, then you can use xp and osx. Its the easiest way to dodge the perceived problems, i also have some mates who have no problems with serato on their macs. Its super easy and works like a charm. Also with 1.80 for serato i'm sure the majority of mac problems have been fixed.

you have no idea what you're talking about but i suppose that's par for course.

Yeah dude thats retarded. I can't tell you how many threads I've read that are "Whats better Mac or Windows and each reply is the same. "I have had no problems with my mac" "I have had no problems with my pc" "I had a problem with my mac once" "I have had a problem with windows" W/ serato in particular I don't see any problem picking either.

ScratchLIVE.net · Known Issues · Apple MacBook Pro - USB dropouts on some USB ports There you go. When the Serato admin team issues a notice about Mac USB problems - then you KNOW it's serious. I've heard SO many people saying that their Serato just straight up doesn't work on a Mac, or at least not on half of the USB ports that it has. With Windows machines you do NOT get that problem. (The only time you would get it is if you have a resource conflict, but that's your OS' problem). Also - Digidesign has stated that half of their USB interfaces do NOT work on half of Macs' USB ports: Digidesign | Support | Pro Tools LE 7.1.1/7.1.3 with MacBook That's gotta be serious then if Digidesign had to make it known to the people about Macs and their shitty compatibility with USB devices. If that doesn't help you see things past your overinflated ego - then go read the Serato forums: http://scratchlive.net/forum/search/?q=mac+usb+problem http://scratchlive.net/forum/search/?q=mac+problems And finally - here's a thread on the Apple support forums talking about the same issue (the fact that Serato and other USB interfaces do NOT run on Macs): Apple - Support - Discussions - Big issues with Macbook and usb audio ... Ahh... back on topic. Last edited by FireWire; Dec 17, 07 at 07:46 PM. |

I like how you went through so much extensive searching to provide seperate links all detailing the exact same problem. The usb port issue is well known to anyone using a macbook or macbook pro and audio programs and the solution is simple: use the other port.
Again you're doing nothing but talking out of your ass. I am far, far from a god of DJing but I know enough to see that you still have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. |

The usb port problem for people who can't switch the ports has been fixed.
Also with several other issues, check it out for a complete bug fix list. This was released early today. Apple - Support - Downloads - MacBook, MacBook Pro Software Update 1.1 |
