It's amazing when you take inventory of all the things you "have" or have "accumulated" over the years and you ask yourself whether you really "need" those items and realize that you don't. It's pretty eye-opening when you realize that there really isn't very much that you *need* materially in this life,
this have never been more true for me than it is now.

ya, like a fire safe for photo albums and heirlooms!

I try and do this every cpl of months, giving things i no longer want/need to my family first (esp clothes to my mum/sister). It's a good feeling to free up space, and knowing that well-deserving people are getting use out of your goods.

I worked for DDA for 2 years. This is a great organization to support!

While I think that sentiment is quite nice - are you moving somewhere that is fully furnished or are you going to sleep and eat on the floor? :/

My situation is a bit unique, but yeah I was talking more trivial things like clothes and the fact that over the years I accumulated a bunch of crappy clothes and useless shit that I didn't get much wear/use out of (hence the 17 bags of donations). But definitely, I couldn't say the same for say, a bed or a couch.

So the move is finally done!

My new apartment is awesome, I am excited to come home every day...I'm only partially set up and I have no livingroom furniture for now, but it's getting there.

The couch and chair and my old microwave went to Homestart, which furnishes apartments for people starting over with nothing, like refugees and women escaping abusive relationships. HomeStart Foundation - Furnishing homes, rebuilding lives

Just got the internet working today, my laptop is perched on a cardboard box. ahhhh home sweet home.

My friends say I'm not allowed to move for another 3 years and I agree.
