fuck you, kitchen full of breakables!

fuck you, boxes!

fuck you, clothes I have to take to the thrift store!

fuck you, packing tape!

fuck you, insane piles of crap I have somehow accumulated!

fuck you, dust!

fuck you, enormous couch!

fuck you, bed that I have to take apart!

fuck you, expensive rental truck!

fuck you, end of the month, for falling in the middle of the week!

If I leave my bed, I can move in a taxi cab. You have way too much stuff, and very little of it is practical, Jess!

I need it for 3 days. Long story I don't feel like explaining again. U-haul won't even give me a truck for that long at the end of the month, at any price. Had to go with Budget, and it's going to be well over $300.

I am moving with just one big red suit case.

It's amazing when you take inventory of all the things you "have" or have "accumulated" over the years and you ask yourself whether you really "need" those items and realize that you don't. It's pretty eye-opening when you realize that there really isn't very much that you *need* materially in this life, and that at least 75% of the money that you spent on things you thought you wanted at the time, would have been better invested on more lasting, meaningful or useful things.

There's something liberating about getting rid of all the crap that you have and really don't get any "value" from. All I need is some clothes, some kitchenware, toiletries and some books. I wound up donating 17 bags of shoes and clothes to the developmental disabilities association.

This time round, when I buy things I'm really going to have to ask myself whether I really *need* it.

FYI - You can arrange for an organization to come pick-up your clothing if you don't have time to drop it off yourself. The Vancuiover Developmental disabilities association for example does pick-ups. They also have donation bins across the lower mainland.

I made a mistake though - it was the "developmental disabilities association" not the mental health association.

I moved 8 times in the past 12 months. And about 5x's that in the past 10 years. I found a place that I like and I am not moving again for at LEAST 3 years. I have like nothing, except the bed and what not I got a few weeks ago. I now can no longer move in a taxi cab.

^ Ive moved more times in the past year than I have in my whole life.

Unlike most people I love moving. Cleaning out and reorganizing is great. Settling down in a new place.

Most of my friends tell me the only reason I like to move is because I'm too small for most heavy lifting lol.

I moved about a month ago and when I did I was extremely fortunate enough to have it work out for a weekend, I have NOO idea how you're managing/(managed?) a mid-week move.

but like others said, give it a week or two of unpacking & organizing and you'll feel like a new woman! :)

Moving is a pain in the ass for sure.

I've moved 4 times in the last two years. At this point 60% of my stuff is still in Ontario, some heavy and un-needed stuff is in B.C. as well.

At least everytime you move, the amount of stuff you have should shrink. It's a good opportunity to condense your possessions.
