That was a great call, but he did have top pair for 2 pairs with A kicker. Opponent could've had a flush or a got lucky w/ a deuce but other than that Tran was likely good. Even when there are 4 cards of one suit on the table, I don't just assume someone has the fifth, esp when you're heads up.

Certainly possible he had hockey sticks. Or any other pocket pair above 8s, for that matter.

I hit 2 pair on the flop, buddy hits (what I thought was just a flush draw), we both check it down on the turn, I hit a 10h (what i thought gave him a flush) for a fullhouse on the river and buddy hits his straight flush on the river!

dayummm.... when shit like that happens i can't even really get mad... always sick when you see a straight flush...

i hit quad aces the other day, but hard to monetize when you get hands like that.. because not really much else that can be out there for someone to call your bet or bet into you...

Poker I'd say is 70% skill and 30% luck. Even if you do everything right, your still going to lose a fair amount of hands. If you stick to your game, you'll usually come up on top. I used to have a full time job but I only work part time now, sometimes not at all. Poker has made me enough money over the years for me to live comfortably. I made 62 g in 2007, and i'm up 38 g this year (2007's total is really high cause I won a 27 thousand badbeat pot though lol) If you keep get sucked out on stupid pots, stop playing 1/2 at the casino, play 3/6. I know you could potentially lose a lot more money, but the game is way better. You don't have those guys going all in with an 8/9 suited. Its the real hands playing, so its easier to read.

Big hand of the night....

In the BB (5 handed) I get 33. Action goes fold, fold. Dealer raises to $2.50, SB folds, I call.
Flop comes down 93K...I raise to $4 with my bottom set. The guy on the button (at the time of this hand) had been raising preflop with alot of A nothing, K nothing. I kinda put him on K 9 (for 2 pair) or AK. Anyways, He raises me to $10, I call. Turn comes down blank. I checked this time, I figured he was gonna bet out again, he also checks. The river comes down a 3. I bet out $17, He insta-moves all in lol. He throws down 99. And the rest is history.

every sunday we have a 50 dollar buy in tourney... today we played on tuesday because of thanksgiving...

we had a new player with us, and we explained the rules to him of how we play etc... regarding payouts...

winner takes all besides giving second place their money back...

it was headsup at the end... and someone mentioned second place getting their money back, and he was like "nah, i have such a big chiplead"

i didn't say shit, because it's just 50 bucks and he was a friend of a friend, and didnt want to call the guy a dumbass and make it all awkward..

either way.. he had about 50,000 in chips, i had only 1400... the blinds were 500/1000 at this point...

and i was big blind....

i go all in blind automatically and luckily have A6 offsuit... shitty thing is he has AQ.... flop comes nothing,nothing,nothing.. turn is nothing... river is a 6....

i double up to 2400

next hand i get A3 offsuit... i'm loving these A rags headsup when i'm a huge underdog.... i go all in obviously.. he calls.... he has AK... i'm like... wtf, every hand!?

i hit a 3 and double up again...

next hand he has KJ and i have pocket 5's... i go all in... win again...

this goes on and on.. till i am almost even with him.... i get A4 suited... push all in.. he calls... he shows A10 suited...

flop is A25...turn is a J.. river is a 3.. hahah

then i bully him when hes lowstack.... man was he ever choked..

nobody played stupid (besides me going all in with A4suited.. that was kinda stupid)... and he got royally sucked out...

i guess that's karma...
