who says this? (no tax) honestly.
one time, i asked for it *very nicely*, and the salesgirl at an unnamed store on robson replied, "i'm sick of people who say no tax!". she then went on and on about how "gross" it was and i was just staring at her, mouth open... geeze, it was just once, it ain't coming out of your pocket. cut me a break bizznatch! yes retail sucks ass. |

ask for a gift reciept.. thats how ppl abuse it when they shop at my store..
sometimes i wanna blurt out "you have a fucking fat kid" to the woman who buys an XXL flowery ugly dress or a pair of size 20 old ppl jeans. i hate it when ppl come up to my til and say "it's for my boy" (in a fobby accent)... and your point...is ure kid 14? or 34? wut pisses me off the most is when they dont tell me its nontaxable and attack me for it after...and then i have to do a whole post void and apologize my ass off when i really really really absolutely dont mean it. how do i suppose to know little 14 year olds like wearing adult clothing nowadays sheesh. when they nicely ask for it to be nontaxable i dont give a crap cuz when i buy clothes i would love for it to be tex exempt as well. it only takes me to push in 4 extra buttons and it can possibly save someone bus fee....and it doesn't affect my pay check. why not. my store aint fancy.. so it doesn't matter. whenever i go to a more pricey place and attempt the tax exempt i usually get too shy and forget it.. i had my share when i was 14. and sorry if i offended anyone. fawkoff yolks. :P come on, i can pass for atleast 18, can't i?
i offer no tax to customers i like, which is a lot of them. they're already paying for the overpriced clothing anyway. is it coming out of my pocket? no. like the govt needs more of anyone's hard earned cash. yeah, i know it goes to hospitals, schools.. etc.. but enough of it gets taken out of my paycheck. they people at club monaco were probably too lazy to type in your address and stuff. apparenly some girl got fined because she asked for it all the time. . but it's one of those mythy kinda stories/friend of a friend things.. there's too many loopholes around it. yoko come to my party! or i'll cry my revlon colourstay away.. |

ya at my store it gets abused too, sometimes I don't realy care cause its realy easy I just have to punch in a coupple more numbers, and i never make ppls fill out the form cause it takes too long lol. But I hate it when customers like remind you over and over"no tax no tax" or some that can't speak english well will say"no tax student" and I have to explain to them that no tax is for children not students! Or when im working on the kids side and ppl constantly remind u of no tax! lol its not even on kids clothes! But the biggest pet peeve is when they pretend its for their kids, but realy for them...and their bitchy lol

the majority of the time when i get asked for "no tax no tax" its is usually an item under $50. are you that cheap you need to save the twoonie?
sure there are exceptions for every rule but its usually the same type of people who demand it for a $40 t-shirt. |

First off, if someone says "It's non-taxable" it is ILLEGAL for the sales associate to question them. The non-taxable idea is based on the honour system.
Bev, I know it sucks when they make you go back and correct the tax exemption, however, it's within their legal right to, and if they ask you to correct it, you have to. This is why it's always a good idea to ask "Is this taxable or non?". All the cashiers in my company are trained to ask every customer who is purchasing an item that may be tax-exempt (for things such as earrings, bags and other accessories it's unnecessary to ask because they cannot be tax-exempt). As for being fined, this is true. Basically, if the government decides to audit you, they will check through their database of tax-exemption claims and if you are 15+ and have over-used the system, you can be fined. Also, if the store knowingly "hands out" non-tax, they can be fined as well. I'm surprised that you retail workers don't know all this, it *should* be part of your training, especially if you're a cashier! |

i used to do store visuals at gap kids and gap and sometimes when they were really busy they'd pull me and make me do cash?
but that's only when they were desperate cuz i'd usually be really bitchy to customers on cash. ask caitlin. she's my witness. so when people would ask for no tax on adult clothing that was like XL...and claim it was for their 11 year old son i'd laugh in their face and be like "good one" and then if they kept on persisting i'd make them fill out all the paper work and say things to make them feel really dumb. do i look stupid? i know its not for your kid, you dumb bitch. you probably don't even have a kid...ugly people like you shouldn't even be breeding. i didn't say that shit. but you KNOW i was thinking it. but if people came up and said "hey...could you do me a favor and not charge pst?" i'd be like "obviously" cuz they weren't trying to hide it. sometimes i'd put up a fight but i'd usually give in. but if it was a hot guy, i'd be like "fuck...take it for free" -s. |

nat i can understand why your store you should be askin if its taxable or non taxable...since your store is target range is from kids to young adults. i know at gap inc companies our kid clothes go up to a size 16 and all kids clothes are tax exempt. its just sad that customers have to lie and say their XXL floral dress is for their 14 year old. oh well... i do work at a discount zoo...ppl are cheap..fine be it.
hehehe sammy said it all. |

nothing more annoying then people asking for one tax on a $9.99 shirt from my store
i ask for one tax if i'm low on money and the item is $20 or higher, or if it's a big purchase this store i shop at doesn't have a non taxable option....or else they're just lazy and don't want to bother with it at all |

I always get asked if it's taxable ... but most of the time I'm using my mastercard so I can't exactly say "no tax", but if they ask me then yes I am.
But the one thing that really pissed me off ... ooh. I was going out for dinner with my family, just a quick stop at White Spot. So we you know did the whole leave you name, when we got called the girl asked me if I wanted a kid menu, YOU HAVE TO BE 12 AND UNDER!! It's like fuck, do I look -that- young?!?! I so wanted to smack her, knowing that her herself is only 16. I was SO pissed off. /rant. |

are we like the only province in all of Canada that actually has two taxes? i mean i'm not the smartest guy here so let me know...if it is than that's complete bullshit!
reason i ask is that because during psychology in class today my friend was tellin me how E-town has only one tax. So this makes me think if we're the only province in all of canada that actually only has one tax. thanx |
