Head Aches
At work right now with the worst head ache :( I find that anything will trigger one - not enough sleep, Stress is a biggie, not drinking enough or eating enough, not drinking my morning coffee . . . too many things. Almost half my life is lived with a stupid head ache or even migrane!
My doctor says it's stress and there's nothing much we can do about it but make sure I eat/sleep enough and try not to stress. This all helps but they still come anyways for one reason or another and its not like I can help stressin! I also can't be taken medication every other day like asperin/tylentol or exedrine, because I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be too good on my system or I'll get ammune to it. Any suggestions on what I could possibly do to rid of these nasty headaches? Or even to ease the pain just a little?? |

here's an exercise that might work for you.
make sure you're in a room where everythings quiet, or as quiet as possibe as can be. turn off the radio, tv, computer monitor, etc. think about the headache. shut your eyes. envision it as a fire totally out of control. keep your eyes shut. feel the pain of the headache in the heat of the flames. imagine. feel. envision. once you can see that clearly in your mind. now imagine a giant column of water cascading onto the flames. sizzling. smoking. extinguishing. the fire still shoots up, but you still see the water cascading down until the fire is out. feel. imagine. envision. usually takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes if you do it right and don't have any outside distractions. hope it works :) Last edited by Goat; Nov 13, 03 at 03:14 AM. |

Thanks!
Goat . . . I will definately try that. My only problem is its soooo hard for me to concentrate on one thing as my mind wonders a lot to other thoughts, but I really want to try this. Never look back . . . herbal tea sounds like a plan! And my boyfriend give great messages every night ;) |

I never get migraines but I know lots of peeps that do soo here is a couple things that they do to get rid of there headaches.
Fill a sink or run your hands under really cold water for a few minutes. This should move the blood out of your head and give you some pressure relief. Second drink coffee or some sort of caffeine source while eating some chocolate. I know that they say you shouldnt have either one but the people I know sware that when taken together it works great. |

if it a migraine, and not just a headache, then the best thing to do is track down the trigger and do your best to rid your life of it. you can always just say it's stress, but that might not be it. it takes alot of trial and error.
make a chart and keep track of your days, what you eat, how much sleep you got, what you did that day (work, stress level, exercise) and when you got the migraine and how long it lasted for. once you do this for a while you can tend to find some sort of pattern as to what's causing it. it's not even necessairly something from that day. it could be something you did the day before, and you're just feeling the effects now. if it's just tension headaches, exercise to strengthen your back, improve your posture and get someone to give you a nice neck/shoulder massage. headaches sucks, i get them often. if you're getting lots at work, try talking a day off to just lie around and relax by yourself. it really helps. |
