They are going to put a 20% tax on everything from cd-r's, dvd-r's, cd burners, hard drives, flash memory cards etc etc... there reason? because piracy takes money away from the artists, they say. and this tax makes it's way into the corporations pocket, not the artist...just another cash grab.

^^^ I knew someone was going to try and do that. 20% tax on all recordable devices is rediculus!! I don't think they will be able to pass that one. How can they blame having Hard Drives on Piracy?

that is harsh bunk...I mean....I would say that I honestly buy more cd's than I burn,....its just...its worth it for the most part for cd-quality sound..and not a muffled type mp3 version that no matter what the quality or bit rate is...its not the same :soak:

doesen't anyone understand that they are gonna be making a SHIT load of cash, off of EVERYONE... only a certain amount of people download music, but this way everyone is going to have to pay, making everyone pay for the actions of a few(sounds familiar in todays world of war)...and this money goes into the pockets of the big corporations, not the artists... They try and play it out by saying that artists are losing money etc etc, when really they just want more money...

20% tax on a $17 pack of 50 cdr's is ok.. but i guess for the memory cards and hd's it gets a lil outta hand kuz that stuff goes for a bit more...

it's been in the works for a while...
