i arrive @ work around 6pm. i'll take a breaK @ 8:30, 10:30, AND MAYBE @ 1:00am (if we're still open). and if the resurant is slammed, i usually won't smoke at all. i put work in front of my own personal bad habits.
i also get alot of flak from people at work who don't smoke and complain that somkers are lazy bums. well i'll tell you something. when i'm @ work , i work my hardest so i can be ahead of everyone else so i can take a smoke break and not fuck anyone over by doing so. if ya ask me, that's not being lazy, that's being a fast, efficiant, hard worker. so if ya see me outside, puffin away on a smoke, that is because all my work is done for the next 10 minutes. so don't compain, just get back to work! :smoke1: |

Having an addiction isn't an excuse, it's not like it's a condition you have no choice in having. Like, with the same justification, I should be able to skip out of work and order myself a nice gin martini everytime it stresses me out and I get aggrivated at work because I'm such a boozer.
anyways, chin up...the important part here is that although people may be taking more breaks on their leisure, when it comes down to the important things (review/potential raise & promotion) they should notice this stuff, and trust me..they do. I had a manager once that disappeared forever for one of many smoke breaks in a work day because she thought because she was higher up, she could get away with it. Nuh uh, she got canned. |
