eck. i hear ya. when i ran out, i went to get more but the pharmacist said that my refills had run out. didn't have time to go to the doc for a week, so i went a week without it and i was having really bad heart tremours. felt like i was going to black out all the time or have a heart attack. not fun.

go to a clinic tell the doc and get them to give you one of those free sample packs if they have any. take like half a pill, then another half whenever you start to feel crappy again. That was my only saving when I decided to quit cold like that.

It boggles my mind how many people on this board are on antidepressants. I can't remember anyone one of my friends from highschool taking medication.
Either I've been living in some sort of super happy pleasantville world, or there's some correlation between ravers and depression (other than E depression..) |

i'm on effexor right now and honestly, it has changed my life tenfold. obviously i've had to actively make a lot of changes in my life for things to actually get better, but it's given me the boost out of my extremely draining depression to be able to actually get up and do something about it.
miska**i think a bit of both are true. i'm sure there is some correlation between ravers and depression, but also a lot more people suffer from depression than i think most of us are aware of. a lot of people who actually DO suffer from depression are left untreated as well. |

I've never personally experienced depression, I'm a really happy guy, but at the same time can't look down on people for suffering. |

^ yes that, and the fact that it seems alot of doctors just throw pills at people at the first sight of depression. Without truly trying to find out what's causing it and what other ways it can be stopped (if it truly is a chemical inbalance then medication is the way to go, but it can be dealt with in numerous other ways than being drugged)

Comparing people I knew four years ago to people I know now.. The increase in people taking antidepressants is amazing. I'm not saying its good, or bad, or anything. I'm just voicing my observations. But I can understand it, as personally I have noticed so many more advertisements for antidepressants over the last few years. Just thought it was interesting. That's all. :keebler: |

^ oh nono I didn't implying that, I was just stating my personal view.
I know you mean well m!ska :kimmie: to address your post misstressspankme , thats a very true reality. Antidepressants, namely Prozac are the biggest profit makers in the pharmacy buisiness right now, billions and billions are invested in it. They've also been recently linked to suicide ( all antidepressants ) which is ironic in my opinion. On top of everything else , there's over 80,000 deaths a year from perscription medicine... really makes you think. At the same time cannabis has yet to kill a single user... so perhaps it's a better medicine. |

I'm on effexor right now as well. And I shudder to think what life was like before it. Sure doctors seem to be sling out the anti deps like a short order cook at a goth cafe but for the people that need it , it's a god send to not have the huge hassle of the past. If you're on them you should be having coulseling as well and have a plan for the future as to when you expect to be off them.

(18.75 mg of effexor 100 mg of wellbutrin a day) i was on effexor for 2 years.. with lots of ups and downs side effect wise.. alot of nausea.. etc i decided to switch to wellbutrin because its also helps you stop smoking (its also marketed as zyban, which is sold solely for those wanting to quit smoking.. but i think it costs more because its not under medical or something? i dunno. lol ) i havent had any problems with the wellbutrin but massive headaches, light sensitivity, nausea etc from cutting down on the effexor (150mg originally) but it really comes down to how your body will react. it took me a year of experimenting (zoloft, paxil, celexa.. you name it) to find something that didnt make me ill or just plain moodless. they all have massive side effects its all about finding out what will work with you and your body anywho, if you have any questions feel free to pm :) |
