pop-ups help?

hey my comp is just overflowing with these retarded pop-ups always the same ones too come up like every 10 minutes, even if theyre already up the will duplicate....what can i do to get rid of these and prevent future pop-ups?

I installed "pop up eliminator" and now most of the pop ups are eliminated!! :)

Install Ad-aware to get rid of spyware (which I'm sure you have oodles of). Then get the Google Toolbar to kill pop-ups. It works great.

But this will not get rid of pop-ups. Yeah, the google toolbar should.

Go to start>run type in msconfig and look around at services to make sure you have the messenger service turned off. Don't worry, it's got nothing to do with MSN Messenger [this works on Win2k and WinXP]

Well having pop-ups means your computer isn't well secured. With spyware there is less privacy and a higher risk of script kiddies getting into your computer. Plus, spyware is a nasty resource hog.

Many of the offers tend to be cons, especially those coming through messenger spam.

Go to www.download.com and type pop up in the search field, there's a bunch to choose from that's what I just did. Pop ups drive me nuts.

I use Pop-Up Cop. Once ya crack it, it's a great program. Has yet to fail me.

Yeah, I admit. I mean, it can be frustrating, but once you get the hang of it... think about it, never paying for software again [99% of the time, at least]. Or having to worry about your pirated software being detected and you having problems [yeah, that happened].

Anyway, I am not affiliated with any Linux group so I won't make this sound like an advertisment :)
