So.
all cops ARE assholes.
i dont know how many of you were there at the end, but when thursday's bush party was being shut down, the 2 cops that came, were pretty nice. the worst they did (i think) was pour out a bottle of alcohol. they didnt even give any tickets, they weren't rough or abusive with anybody, they just wanted us to be quiet and leave. anyways yesterday: i was hangin out with a few friends, tash420 and 3 other girls, beside seaquam. we had just finished smoking some weed and this cop pulls up. he asks us what we're doing and if we've been smoking any weed. sheila said no, i didnt say anything. so he says that he got a complaint about people smoking pot beside the school (and we weren't being loud or obnoxious, we were just sitting there, smoking pot peacefully, so it couldn't have been us.) and he said if we had any pot, we should give it up now, otherwise he would search us and if he found anything, he would arrest us and take us to the police department. he was looking straight at me while he was saying all this. i asked him why he had to confisgate it(sp?), why couldn't we just leave the premesis. he just said that someone called in a complaint. he said again that if we had any pot, to give it up now, or he'll search us and take us to the P.D. so he started to approach me (probably going to search me) when i went in my backpack and pulled out my bag of weed. i had maybe about 3 grams at the most. i thought id rather just give it to him rather than making him search me, cuz i didnt really feel like being arrested. so he takes the weed and says thanks for being honest. AND HE LEAVES. now i KNOW that what he did was un-called for and he should NOT have been able to do that. this is where i need help. i don't know a lot about laws against any of this stuff, but i seriously want to know more, not just about the law, i want this guy's badge number. i want to know his dispatch. i want to talk to somebody who knows when this guy works, where his district or whatever is, i want to know what these fucking cops can and cannot do. this guy is going DOWN. |

dude... you are right... he did go against code by doing that... but you should have asked for his badge number.. and his name.. as well as his partner if he had one.. ask nicely.. and get it on paper.. dont make a fuss... just be polite.... if he refuses... then let him know that he's breaking the law by not giving you equal right of identifycation from police officer... by law they have to.. he jacked you up and smoked yo shit man!!!!!! straight up./..

it's more legal now than it ever was. (except before the 1930's when the laws were first passed.) |

the fact that they got a complain is proball cause to search u...they can search you BUT NOT your backpack....except for the fact they didnt have a description of the ppl that were cause for the complaint.....they can make you hand over your weed.

It's not legal to possess it. The Supreme Court of Canada ruled on that several months ago.
He had every right to arrest you for possession. Be glad he just took it away, cause I have known some real asshole cops who would have arrested you for possession, even after giving it up willingly. |

Actually, that whole marijuana reform bill has not actually been implimented yet. It's been reintroduced into commons, but it hasn't been passed. It may be hard to believe, but it is still illegal. Read up on it here: http://canadaonline.about.com/cs/mar...reformbill.htm Might be a good idea to do your research before you harp on police for just doing their jobs. In my experience, if you're not an idiot, then the police don't care. If you're going to go smoking it in a public place (especially like a school) then I don't think I'd be too pissed off if I got caught. I'd be more likely to feel pretty stupid for doing that in the first place. I'd also like to add that I think it's pretty sad that people that live in Canada are bitching about their rights in terms of police treatment when you've clearly broken the law. Go to Cambodia, the police will shoot you first and ask you questions later. If you lived in the United States, you could end up in court and face the possibility of jail/probation (including regular drug tests for years to come) for the same amount! Count your blessings. |

a couple things i forgot to mention.
i asked who the complaint was from, he said it was from someone that lived nearby. you can't even see any houses from where we were. its all forest area. i dont even think there was a complaint at all. i believe he just said that so he could score some pot. |

Uhm yeah, I think that you're just being a slightly paranoid pothead there. ;) Go make a complaint, it's your right, but I think a lot of people agree, there's nothing the officer did wrong. |

this is what my horoscope said for yesterday: Obviously, anyone whom you tend to have difficulty with will be a source of trouble today, because you cannot escape the confrontation. In fact it is a good idea to have it out and get your problems into the open so that perhaps you can clear it up. The point is that you will not derive much benefit from keeping to yourself today. Even if your only encounter with another person is unpleasant, it will be useful to you in the long run. If you withdraw, the initiative will be taken out of your own hands, and you will still have the confrontation. Last edited by Pegasus; Jun 28, 04 at 09:58 AM. Reason: bolded text |

where would that part in Beautiful Mind be when he points out those shapes in the stars and it's all so vomitingly romantic? how would romeo and juliette have ever met if they couldn't be 'star' crossed lovers? hmm..maybe we could do without them.... |
