stupid high tuotions!
bah!! I hate not having lots and lots and lots of money! heh :108:
I hate stupid student loans who do such a great job of helping by only giving me part of what I need expecting me to get 3000 dollars out of thin air. You stink!!! (by you I mean ....uh someone I'm not sure who yet) Lindsey |

I'm doing it
paying for my own tuition, a high maintenance chinese girl (yes they are more expensive....but definately worth it), trying to buy a new car , and eventually move out.....kinda sucks cause I missed my registration date due to overdue fees so I prob won't get the classes I want

hun, I don't think you should be complaining...
BC actually has one of the lowest tuitions prices, if not the lowest. and we've had a tuition freeze for a long time, so I'd actually WANT them to raise the prices. think about it.. why are so many people bitching about not getting the classes they want? why are so many people not graduating in the expected 4 years due to courses they cannot get? why are people like ME waiting 2-3 years for a fucking program that doesn't have enough funding to offer the required courses for people to take OUTSIDE the fucking program.... if the tuition prices were higher, schools would be able to provide more courses that people actually want to take, more teachers, better facilities, etc, etc.... ever think of it that way? --Joanne :P Last edited by Joanne; Nov 30, 01 at 09:34 PM. |

not if its a private non government funded school
Quote:
I'm complaining cause its so expensive. Its not a government funded school like sfu or douglas college. They can charge me whatever they hell they want to. That's why thery're charging me9000 dollars plus a couple hundred extra for a 28 week program. 28 weeks not months or anything weeks! And stupid student loan telling me that they'll pay for part but not enought to really help me out. I don't want to be stuck being a cashier for the rest of my life! |

a) a outside funder (parent, grandparent, etc) b) a scholarship they were lucky enough to win say you excelled in biology in school and you really want to be a doctor. unless you have insanely high marks in all of your subjects or insanely rich parents, when you get out of school you will be bridled with a debt of anywhere from 90 (if somehow you're able to work through med school) to 200 thousand dollars. this is an extreme case, of course. but any university education basicly is completely out of reach for the average student who is lower or middle class. post secondary is turning into an institution for the wealthy, which in turn creates a new kind of a class system. this is wrong. r. |

if that is it.. or your going to be a makeup artist.. you will need to spell.. my sis was going to go into that.. she was accepted into blanche macdonald.. and she was telling me bout it.. you have to do alot of work for that.. it's not just makeup.. you learn all about anatomy and alot of stuff.. maybe your doing something dif tho? i'm not sure but meh... good luck with the student loan.. i'd say take time off from doing school just to save up money and then go to school.. your prolly better off that way.. |

but, who said you had to go to university right away for 4+ years? I know many people who choose to go to college for the first couple of years, which is about half the price of university tuition. I also know people who work full time while going to school part time in order to pay for their schooling without taking out a loan. plus, who said you can't take time off to work and save up for upcoming semesters? or, there are other options such as RESP, which is what I ended up doing. --Joanne :P |

who can be doctors/physicists/lawyers? only people who have a lot of money. not the smartest people or the most qualified people. this is wrong. as far as working during school, most migh diciplines require either unpaid internship or long house. ask anyone who has gone to med school, you cant work full time while going. unless you're pulling down 40-50k a year without any expenses, any high level education is not going to be susidized by taking a year or a semester off. again, bottom line is that the amount of money i have access too, not my ability, affects where i will be employed. r. |

Wow, what a topic.
Spunsugar next time u need coffee to study. Message me and we'll go 4 coffee, its on me. My situation is far from yours, but i have many friends who are in the same position as yours. Like someone said b4, BC does have one of the lowest tutition fees in Canada thanks to the freeze. I think the goverment will continue the freeze and students will continue to benefit. Unfortunetly the goverment must smarten up and keep the graduates from working abroad. Whats the freeze going to do if they dont even stay to work in BC? :184: Transfering to a major university from a college is possible if u do your homework. Talk to a councellor and they'll tell u everything u need to know. Thanks to mine, im transfering in September. Woot! Spunsugar, good luck and much success in whatever u choose to study. :105: |
