all of you quit your bitching, my tuition & school fees for half a year are 12,000$.

student loans only cover 7,000$ of that.
3 months to come up with 5000$ = mad stress.

my base tution is 1800, then i have to pay for my program on top of that which is an extra couple hundred. plus all the stupid things like the school paper and building levy comes out to about $2200 per semester i think, but it may be more.... that doesnt count my supplies and month fees. and keep in mind im only receiving a diploma after this for the type of program im doing... personally, i think its too much money.
but i see my brother struggling to pay his $5000 tuition for one semester plus his supplies and shop fees and i dont feel as bad for myself.

Private post-sec instead of public, that's why. Everyone else in this thread (except BevBev*funfun) was talking Public, and all private institutes tend to be über-pricey. That's all.

Yeah, and yet apparently the public cooking school (VCC) has a better international rep than the pacific cullinary institue... go figure!

Yeah...And that's why there's a 9 month waiting list on VCC's program (and it starts every month!)...I'm looking into it. :)

My parents had an indonesian homestay student who was here not to learn english, but to go to the VCC cullinary school. That blew my mind.

yeah it's kinda backwards, im not really into waiting 9 months to goto school though. i know it's ridiculous but i would rather pay the money to get into school now. plus, i also like the idea that @ Pacific i spend half the time there getting practical experience.

i think the whole thing about the rep being better at VCC will change very soon. Pacific just upgraded and renovated their whole facililty, they doubled the size of the school.

spending over 10 grand for a short program like pacific is a waste.
you get our of school and you're making $17 max.

how are you ever going to pay that off?

uber pricy is a relative term..its pricy relative to other schools in B.C but relative to public school in some other provinces and especially compared to the U.S there tuitions are fairly reasonable.

i grad in april and will be paying around 10-15 g's for another bidness training program, i aint concerned, shit like school is a good investment, besides ill make back all that money within a year of graduation im usre...typical wage for sociology grads is 27k a year so i need to get some other shit under my belt..i almost shat myself when i found that out, i made almost as much working part time at my old job.

Queen's universities MBa program is $75k Id consider that pretty fuckin pricey, if i could id still pay that much tho, its totally worth it in the long run.

i dont consider it a waste, the money isn't the biggest issue to me. im going to be able to graduate with the training i need to get a job i enjoy and will suit my lifestyle. i snowboard alot, so being a chef makes alot of sense for me. if everything works out in my favour, i will be able to get a job at a resort or travel somewhere and find a job so i can snowboard.

it sounds ridiculous, but i would rather enjoy myself while im young than grow old, bitter and regret not doing the things i wanted to when i was young. i have the rest of my life to worry about money, i see no need to start now.
