The worst feeling piercing EVER.
I have quite a few piercings (16 now in all) and I just got my da'ath pierced on Monday. (people say daith (dayth) but I was informed that the correct pronounciation is dawth)
It's a beautifully yummy piercing. I love the placement. The piercing process was fine -- didn't hurt at all -- but it's 4 days later and I'm still in pain. Swollen, constant ear ache, IT HURTS. When it's healed I won't mind it, but right now, it's so sore. The sorest piercing yet by far. I have piercings that you THINK would be sore afterward, but this one is RIGHT in the ear lobe so the pain sort of echos through my head. Anybody have this done, or their rook? How was your healing process? What did you use to clean it? Tim at Sacred Heart (he's awesome. I've had a few done by him) told me either use my bactine because it worked for me for my Tragus or Witch Hazel. He said don't do a sea salt soak because it's kind of awkward to do. But I'm thinking that might be nice to do for this one...any suggestions how I'd go about doing the sea salt soak? *ouch* (pain for pleasure though, so I'm not complaining ALL that much). |

i got my rook done about 2 years ago and i still have some issues with it
but i think thats just how my body reacts to the metal.. almost all my piercings have had problems, but the rook seems like the worst. i used an epsom salt semi-bath... make a bowl full, and just drench a cotton ball and hold it on your ear for a min, and then repeat til the bowl is gone. it worked well for me, anyway :) |

I've also had quite a number of piercings and I find witch hazel to work the best. And even tho it's ackward, I also find that if you bath your ear in epson salts ever alternate week, it seems to work really well
Good luck with your new piercing :) |

plain perfume free soap is the best thing to clean a piercing with (like neutrogena)
Bactine is not good for long term use as it tends to overdry your skin, yada yada. Stick with the simple stuff. Really! oh, and for angry piercings it's always good to keep epsom salts and some pure lavender essential oil on hand A soak in some hot water with epsom salts and a drop of it can help immensely. 10-15 minutes for a slightly angry piercing, if it gets really bad, do it for a good 20-30. Your piercing will thank you :) |

wow 16 as in sarcastic? well anyways. yes. 16 and more to come. Thanks guys! My ear isn't hurting nearly as much as it was this week. I had ear aches because of this one...but I bought witch hazel AND I have some epsom salts too if I decide I need them. But yeah. it's doing good right now. I don't know, I know how to take care of all my other piercings, but every time a new one comes along I like to hear how other people took care of them...to see what works the best, because sometimes what the piercers tell us doesn't always work (well he told me not to use epsom/sea salts.)
Thanks again guys! I'll take pics eventually. |

pain was minimal, healing was only a few days (I could compare the healing process to getting braces, just slight discomfort, mushy foods, etc.) and yeah, if it's your first piercing I'd definitely reccomend next. I worked there for two years and I think that their way of really making sure you know all of the ins and outs as far as aftercare, etc. before you get it done is fairly unprecedented as far as other places go.. (then again, most of my piercings were also done there, so I'm probably fairly biased.) |

Do it! The pain is VERY minimal. I survived for a week on slurpees and the healing process went by very smoothly and not very painful at all. Just be sure to clean it like your piercer suggests and it'll be just fine. I'd also suggest Sacred Heart on Nelson. I've had a bunch of mine done there, and I'd recommend it to anyone hands down. |
