second languages are hard!

German Russian, Polish(??) English
Wow nice nice !! I tried to learn russian, but it´s very hard and I only enjoy learning languages when I am in the country living with ppl who speak it... Next language for me will be spanish and it won´t be too hard because I speak italian fluently.

Russian would be hard to learn because well it's got a whole different alphabet... still think it would be rad to learn though

I love learning new languages! I want to try to learn Korean or something next. If I can find the time.

I know Polish, I can speak better then I can read and write.

I can speak english and French fluently. Am learning spanish. My main problem is when speaking spanish I tend to mix it up with french. Should see the look on the faces of the Mexicans at work. Priceless

When i was camp counselling there was this japanese student who would arrive to the day camp every day ...and she was so terrified because it was really hard for her to understand what we were all doing...but
Having learned one or two phrazes and some basic Japanese,
i was able to say good morning to her...
and she was SO excited..It made her day..every day..
I just wish i had known more..
I dont understand why they give us the option back in school of more languages then just french...
I for one would have loved to learn Mandarin..or Swahili..
I mean, shouldn't we have a choice..
or at least learn to appreciate and keep old languages alive..
I speak sign language fluently, and it's awesome to actually find out the names of the occasonal person selling the cards with the alphabet on them..
or curiously evesdrop on a very livley signing conversation..
Oh..
And why aren't high school students obligated to take a Native Studies class..
..What you learn about the Haida in Gr.5 and that's enough?..
I dont understand.

^ Um they do give you the option.
Everyone must take French through grade eight. After that, the choice is yours. My hs offered Spanish, Mandarin, Punjabi, Japanese, Italian and German.

I really should brush up on my Spanish over the next year, or I am going to get eaten alive in Miami.

Some, learning as always! Yeah we could totally speak it in front of people, lol. Thought Im not too fluent yet. Im more fluent in German.

haha...yeah.

ive done alot of traveling man. like alot. ive been all over asia south and north and have logged two solo stints backpacking southamerica.

english was rarely spoken.

it was fun....but i felt like a little kid, and really dumb at times. people in markets and such would just go off on me in spanish and thai or something frustrated that i could not understand them lol...it was neat.

spanish i picked up in no time...i was fukin forced to haha. but thai,nam or cambodian or any asian language....forget it!

Yeah I was only offered Spanish and French..
I think it would be great as well for elementary school classes etc..
impressionable minds..but yeah..haha that's amazing, to have all of those options.
