You're totally right, Jake. I find it a little infuriating, and more than a little frustrating when television tends to do a better job of showing typical gay people than real life gay events do. Even in Vancouver, a big queer city, the typical gay image is defined more by the gay part of Davie than by the actual queer population of Downtown & the West End.

I'll admit that I go to "pride" events, but they're always a place I feel distinctly un-represented. I think that the "normal" queer people just tend to blend into the crowd with everyone else, or have given up and go completely crazy and do the "dress up and go wild" thing.

Maybe someone should get a group together for the big August parade: A big bunch of people wearing just what you'd expect people to be wearing on a hot summer day, walking in the parade with a big sign:

"Bet you can't guess which ones of us are queer!"

(Note: Yes, I used gay and queer almost interchangably there iIntentionally. I'm talking about the GLBT community, but trying to make the point that the image typically propagated is one of outrageous gay men -- kinky and not --, drag queens, and the two extremes of lesbians)

My biological tendency is hunger, but you don't see me going around hitting people over the head with clubs, breaking their femurs, and then sucking out the nutritious marrow. You are more than just your body, but a soul and a spirit as well. But in this temple dwells the Holy Spirit if you let it in.

wum: i have no problem with religion. two of my really good friends are catholics and i have another two that are very devoted christmas (so much that they refuse to have sex before marriage). we don't have any problems getting along. wanna know the secret?

they realize that life is full of choices, and one of mine has been to totally cut out any form of religion from my life. i don't have a problem with you having it in your life...if it works, then cool. but don't force the rules and beliefs that you have chosen to live your life by, on me. :)

I'm sure Jesus will have more respect for someone who is who they are. I mean God created you right? In his own image right? Then why did he create people to be gay? Isn't that who he wanted them to be? Isn't that his image? I'm trying to understand how it is so 'wrong' to be yourself.

so just like people control hunger, i control my sexual desires...just like most everyone else in this world.

we are both using our souls and rationality to control our biological needs. i'm not really sure where the big difference is (besides sexual preference).

I cant believe how hypocrital you are,in one post you preach that jesus loves everyone, and in another you say how people of other races are polluting our gene pool and will be the demise of our culture.

This post wasnt about the "moral" act of homosexuality. (you already whored enough threads about gay marriage) Try a little tolerance of other peoples beliefs. Llike jake said, youre allowed to have your own beliefs, but if you really think posting a blurb about jesus on fnk is going to turn the whole world into white/straight/(insert any other "prefered" charateristic here) then you really are ignorant.
