Does this bother anyone else?

For some reason - more than any other internet shortcut - this pisses me off to no end.

It makes whoever is writing look like a frigging 13 year old girl.

I dont take alot of shortcuts..but I do find myself using that one.. I dont think I look like a 13 year old. ;P

I personally cant stand when people completely spell the word incorrectly.

I think the trend got started in the States in pre-computer times by country people who had stuff to sell. They put up signs like:

Corn 4 Sale

U Pick

You would never see signs like that in Canada back then.

i'm with ff on this. is it so hard to type correctly? sure there is going to be an odd spelling mistake but none of this "u, ur, yer, da (the)" and why are the words that are being abbreviated only 3 letters long! definatly a pet peeve.

the things that really piss me off are when people come up with strange internet-speak that doesn't actually save them anytime typing. i mean, c'mon if you're going to use internet-speak then at least use shorter words that save you time.

examples of this:

school --> skool
cool --> kool or kewl
the --> teh


if aliens are watching us, i hope to god they aren't reading the internet.

i have a perfect example of this! i'll post it when i get home, it's about a guy trying to write a letter and doesn't know how to word it so he uses "internet talk"

uhh...i really try not to do this, but i admit i find myself doing it sometimes.
but hey, at least i try.
i dont mind to much when other people use it, but i guess its kinda annoying at times.
what really bothers me is when people use internety slang + can not spell at all and it takes forever to figure out what their trying to say...
