ugh me too. for the past week ive been gettin my 8 hours of sleep every night, been eating moderately well, and been wearing lots of layers in case i get cold and i still get hit by the stupid bug and i just never seem to get better. =( sore throat not going away, was stuffed up last night, kinda getting hot/colds sweats today, shivers galore. just no fun.

ugh..and it seems like every med i try doens't do shit for me. neocitran officially doesn't do anything to me anymore =(

i feel your pain i work in an office, in a cubical all day, on a computer and everyone is always sick! its so grose...........no escaping the germs!!!yuck!!

i find airing out my place and cleaning(bleaching etc) all the time helps. (washing my bedding and vacumming)

Eat lots of good sources of protein.

The antibodies that fight off viruses and bacteria are made of protein.

You can't catch a cold from being out in the cold.

I work in a freezer for 20+ hours a week and I rarely get a cold....this is how it works...

When you are cold, you are more SUSEPTABLE to catching a cold, it doesnt mean you will catch one. When your body is colder, it is more prone to catching viruses, but its not something that is guarenteed. Hence when you are sick, you get hot flashes/fever/etc, your body warms up to help in combating invaders.

I may be talking out of my ass on this one, but that is my limited knowledge on the subject.

^^hmm that does make sense. so in otherwards i cant blame the cold.. all i have to blame is my weaky immune system. its been out of hand the past year.. i get a slight shiver and i know somethings up and day after.. fever. so how does one get a stronger immune system? im guessing eating better/exercising... i do both. hopeless.

i would like to add that to my dear mother, you did not give birth to me just to be your own personal slave. yes, im not working today, however, im fucking sick. i'd like to do my laundary today, not yours, and i would really really enjoy not being yelled at, i have a headache.

back to the cold - today i woke up with a headache, hot and cold chills and my body feels like shit. it aches, and i dont know why. my back is fuckin sore like whoa. my throat isnt sore, just swollen so nothing is very soothing. plus i feel a little nausiated. and my sinuses feel like theres an elepahnt living in them.
protein? as soon as i get better im fucking eating some steak.

im always cold, except in water. i've never found that being cold has ever made me sick. its usually lack of sleep, stress, or being around\in the same room as anyone who is sick.

i'm so sick right now... unnnnggghhh i was tossing and turning in bed all night.. i dont think i got much sleep at all since i feel so tired and drained...

I was also sick all Winter. I constantly had a sore throat, cough, and jus that crappy worn down feeling you get when ur sick. I tried everything, got 8 or more hours sleep every night, kept warm, hardly partied the whole winter. Stupid doctor kept giving me antibiotics that never worked i couldnt figure out why i was sick for like 4 months straight. But anyways i went to this Chinese medicine doctor, he gave me these 2 bottles of herbs to take for 2 weeks and this crap to drink. About a week later, GONE, and honestly i feel better now then i did before i got sick.

he's right!

for two reasons that I can think of:

first, during the cold months, you're usually inside, whether stuffed with a bunch of other people at work, school, bus, etc. crammed with other sick people, your chances of getting sick increase right away.

second, I recall reading something about the cold air can lead to changes in your nasal passage way, making it more difficult to remove viruses which cause colds..

I have a terrible immune system, so working in an elementary school is really really lame. I got sick so much over the winter... I legitamately have missed 21-22 days of work for being sick since school started in Sept. Thankfully I have not been sick since the end of Jan, and that is along time for me to go without so much as a bad cold. Less than two months left in the school year!!! I can do it, I can do it... But then agian, my allergies SUCK so much right now some days I might as well have a cold.
