Oh.. and it sucks that your friend totally rubbed it in your face and put down your faculty.. I know how it is as my sister graduated from sauder school of business and she would often put down the fact that I was in Arts and that the only thing an arts degree can do for you is help you be a teacher....but from my perspective, I myself can't help but feel that my sister is likely making more money right now than I ever will if I complete my sociology degree. Education certainly isn't the only thing that matters.. but I think that her experiences at UBC really did help her in a large way, as she did not get her current job via parental networking.
So I really don't know what to say :P other than the faculty of arts is sounding more and more unappealing to me.

I think your sister is just trying to upset you. Having a BA instead of a Bcom isnt as big as a deal to potential employers as she tries to make you think especially when youre talking about sales and marketing. You just need to know where to look, how to market yourself, and network as much as possible.
read this it'll make you happier

It would probably be a good idea to figure out what you would like to do after school before you start worrying about wether your education will be adequate.
besides you'd make a pretty good lawyer ;)
p.s a guy i know ended up with a job paying 86k a year + benefits before he even finished his Sociology major, he didnt even write one of our finals before he left. go anecdotal evidence!
