Pollsters
I work for a market research company in winnipeg. The last week or so ive been calling Vancouver and district. If you've gotten a call about translink, thats us. My problem is, WHY IS EVERYONE IN VANCOUVER ALWAYS SO GROUCHY!!!!!
This is somthing that you all complain about, the traffic and transportation. So why is so fucking much to ask that you give us 11 minutes of your time (10:43 to be exact) so we can help. All we're trying to do is solve the problem you deal with everyday. Im not saying that this survey will solve all the problems, but if you as residence dont voice your oppinion nothing will get done. Translink is faced with either not doing anything and keeping all the problems and taxes low, or dealing with the problem and raising taxes. Why is it so bloody hard to understand that if you use any form on transportation be it car, bus, skytrain, or bike, you are using the operations of translink. Just cuz you have a car doesnt mean you should pay for these improvments. If you have a car, at some point you will drive over the golden ears bridge when its built, or down the fraser highway, wouldnt it be nice if that highway was widened... If you dont have a car, you probably use some form of mass transportation. Why not have your input in where they build that new rapid rail line through Coquitlam, or through richmond. Is your life soooo busy and sooo important that you dont have the time to make it better. I had a man yell at me that this was not the right time, he had just gotten home and had spent the last hour and a half in bottle necked traffic. He urgantly hung up the phone. GOD DAMN IT im trying to give you people the oppertunity to FIX that! but your so absorbed in your lives that you wont! STOP BITCHING IF YOU DONT WANT TO HELP FIX IT!!!!!!! sorry, if i offended anyone, but this has really been bugging me for a couple days. If you wnat change you must participate. If no one does, it wont get changed. The attitude of "oh somone else wil help" if everyone thinks that way,..... where does that get you. So, if you get a call from somone saying their talking to resdents of the greater vancouver region about local issues. Take the time to do it. If its honestly not a good time, tell us that, we'll schedual a call back around your life. If for whatever reason you simply CANT do it. be nice. Simply say, your not interested, hear us out, we only have two more questions. And its done. thats all that we'll say. thanks for your time.

Depends on what time you call us. Gotta remember we're three hours behind. I hate when I get calls during Dinner. Don't outsourced companies remember that our home and native land stretches across a couple of those things we call Time Zones?

We're acctually two hours ahead. And we can't give you a number to call. We're calling from an outbound call center. I totaly appreciate being tired after a day of work dont get me wrong, i know where your coming from. But this is somthing that is SO important to the city. I just dont understand why everyone has to be so mean about it. I know im not gonna change anything by bitching about it. I really just needed to get it off my chest. We start calling at dinner time, cuz thats when people are home, if people say thier eating, we ask for a better time. Its not a problem if your busy. But remember that we're people too. Its not a recording on the other line. We're just trying to make a living. No one likes the parking meter guy, but somones gotta do it! I guess all i can ask, is that if we call, just be nice, treat us how you would like to be treated. Dont yell and swear and bang the phone on the table. We dont have control over the number we call or the time. The main server randomly dials numbers. But we're people too.

^Unfortunately you're people with a shitty job. People don't like getting calls from people they don't know. More than anything it pisses me off that my number just got picked out of a phone book... you don't KNOW me so don't CALL me.
On top of that 9 out of 10 telemarketer/pollster calls are during the dinner hour because they know that's when most people will be home...

did you not just hear me say that the numbers are randomly dialed!! we dont have phone numbers a computer randomly generates them. We have no name, nothing just a number. I'm not asking that you people talk to me, Im just asking that you treat people with some amount of human curtousy! is that really so much to ask. like really. We realize as this is our job that people arent going to always want to do it. BUT FOR FUCKS SAKES PEOPLE BE NICE!!! if everyone in this world treated other how they wanted to be treated, this world would be amazing. But you people only think about yourselves first. You just had a hard day at the office or whatever. Well, your causing me to have a bad day at the office. As far as the dinner hour thing goes. 99% of interviewers HATE calling you guys at dinner, cuz when we're having dinner at noon, we hate being interupted too. BUT we have no control over it. So instead of being a bitch about it, try, im eating dinner right now try back in an hour. Then when we call back, if you still dont want tto do it, just say your not intereseted we'll ask if theres anyone else who would be interested, say no, and thats that. My job has been done. Youve been nice, and you didn't have to sit on the phone for those precious 11 minutes talking about somthing to make your community better.

ok look. im not coming on here trying to make you people do surveys. I was mostly just bitching hence the board this is in. All i want is for you people to realize that your not the center of the universe and to be NICE! if you dont want to do it FINE. But why is it so impossible to be nice to people. All we're trying to do is make your city better. Give you guys a chance to voice your oppinion. If we didnt call asking for your oppinions 6-7 months ago, translink would have decided to where to put the rapid rail line in coquitlam that would be best for them, not the residents of greater vancouver. I know all of you are busy, but all im asking is to be nice. If you dont want a say in how your city spends your tax dollars then fine, but dont bitch when things dont go your way. All we're trying to do is make your city and lives better, but if you like bitching about your city, and getting all pissed of that it takes you 2 god damn hours to get where youg going then fine. Im done defending myself. I didnt think it was too much to ask for some human respect. But my oppinion of the people of vancouver has just gone down SO much from this thread alone. I was hoping to get to meet many of you this summer, but if all of you are really this big of assholes then fuck it.

You can't help! people hardly have a say in what goes on with translink, they raise fares and cut down routes all the time without any justification. translink fucks us whenever they can.. we can't stop them. ps. TUNNEL CAMBIE.. fu cut and cover.

See the predicament? I fucking hate telemarketing. I agree with Cdn_Brdr. Let me eat my dinner in peace. You work a shitty job that people hate. Deal with it. Stop bitching about it. If you don't like it, quit. The same would be said if you were a repo man or a lawyer. Except there you'd be making more money. I work an inbound call center. At least I'm not annoying the crap out of everybody I talk to. But that's also a shitty job. I don't hate on the customers because the system is lame though.
