Who left there little Dog in their car at Apex??

i was absolutely outraged to walk out of that party with the hot sun beating down to see that someone left their dog in their car!

i'm hoping that they weren't there long, or that they were just picking up a friend or something because that is soo cruel

I hate to open up a can of worms but...

there are a lot of people who are very vocal and against animal cruelty and whatnot, but still continue to eat meat.

I hope those peope realize that the meat they eat came from somewhere.. and chances are, those animals suffered a lot more than a dog who was locked in a car.

I'm not pointing fingers at anyone whatsoever. it's just always something that comes to my mind whenever the topic of cruelty to dogs, cats and other "cute" animals comes up.

EDIT: I AM NOT PREACHING ABOUT VEGANISM/VEGETARIANISM OR THE JUSTIFICATION OF EATING MEAT.

I am simply pointing out that it's a little ironic, perhaps even hypocritical to preach about this, while contribute to it at the same time.

so please people, don't give me shit about how I'm preaching or why meat-eating is the way to be. I don't care what you put in your bodies. :P

Don't Leave Your Pet in a Parked Car

Never leave your pet unattended in a parked car for any period of time. On a warm day, the temperature in a parked car can reach 120° in a matter of minutes—even with the car windows partially open. Your pet can quickly suffer brain damage or die from heatstroke or suffocation when trapped in high temperatures. This is what you should do if your pet is exposed to high temperatures:
  •
Be alert for the signs of heat stress—heavy panting, glazed eyes, a rapid pulse, unsteadiness, a staggering gait, vomiting, or a deep red or purple tongue.

If your pet becomes overheated, you must lower her body temperature immediately.
Move your pet into the shade and apply cool (not cold) water all over her body to gradually lower her temperature.
Apply ice packs or cold towels to your pet's head, neck, and chest only.
Let your pet drink small amounts of cool water or lick ice cubes.

  • Finally, take your pet directly to a veterinarian—it could save her life.

If you see an animal in a car exhibiting any signs of heat stress, call your local animal care and control agency or police department immediately!

You don't just expose your pet to the dangers of heat stress when you leave her in a car, you also expose her to pet theft. Thousands of pets are stolen each year from unattended cars.

Taking your pet for a ride may seem like fun, but many pets prefer to spend time with you in the comfort and safety of your home. Explore activities that you and your pet can share at home and avoid taking risks by leaving your pet in the car.

If you must take your pet with you in your car, do so safely: Cats should ride in pet carriers, and dogs should ride in travel crates or be on a leash. When a pet travels, she should wear two ID tags—one with a home address and one with a destination address.

Take your bleeding heart and your lame-ass opinion and stuff them up your ass.... don't push your vegan ways on other people. It's great that you made this choice for yourself, good for you, pat yourself on the back. If there's one thing I hate it's when bloody veggies try to force other people to think like them. If I wanted to be a vegetarian I would have made up my mind on my own.... not with your goddamn prodding. Now shut it while I eat my fuckin' steak.

agreed, people eat mea,t where supposed to eat meat, if you didnt have grocery stores everywhere we would be out in the bush with spears hunting meat, killing other animals for food in totally natural, other animals do it to survive and so do we.

yah i eat meat, but that doesnt in any way give me the right to be cruel to animals....

this is really sad, many animals die from that all the time. its horrable. i have been in that boat, i didnt like it (i got restless and drove the car through a store wall...i was 5. :P )

animals feel too, and deserve a little consideration.

I'm not a vegan and I am not pushing any opinions. if I were stuck in the middle of an island starving to death, I would probably eat any of you and your fucking dogs.

it's a pet peeve of mine for people bitch and preach about animal cruelty but be completely ignorant about their contributions. I am not preaching veganism or vegetarianism, but I do believe that people should practice what they preach, and I will call on something if I find it ever-so ironic or hypocritical. it's not my fault people such as you don't like to get called on it. :P

I didn't make this post to discuss whether it's natural or unnatural to meat!!

for fuck's sakes, I was merely pointing out the irony of preaching against animal cruelty while contributing to it ignorantly at the same time!

But you're the one who first drew the tenuous line between the two issues.

Initially this was just a thread about the cruel (and therefore "unnatural") behavior witnessed at apex. Then you jumped in and compared that cruelty to the slaughter of animals for our food. You can't just pretend you weren't linking the two now that you've wandered into a hornet's nest of opposition.

I think you would've had a lot more grounds to fight back if you'd focused on the cruel and unusual conditions in which animals are born and raised when they're being prepared by major farming corporations. While many (myself included) consider eating meat a "natural" thing (whatever that word means...), there's nothing natural about those animals' living conditions. The quality of life for the duration of their existence is being sacrificed for the almighty dollar (lots of them)

oh, I'm not pretending I'm not linking the two, as I see no difference between cruelty to this dog and cruelty to say, KFC's chickens. I guess you could say, my underlying message was more along the lines of cruelty to 'cute' animals is really no different from cruelty to animals such as chickens, pigs and cows, not 'don't eat meat, it's murder!'.

I thought this was what I was trying to point out?? I didn't think I needed to explain the cruel and unusual treatment because I thought it was covered in this quote:

I hope those peope realize that the meat they eat came from somewhere.. and chances are, those animals suffered a lot more than a dog who was locked in a car.
