Dry Skin
I never used to have dry skin, and it seems that this year, my skin is super dehydrated.
I am a makeup artist, and I work on a cosmetics counter, so I have access to endless product but nothing is working. I currently use a day cream, a night cream, an eye cream, and a lip cream, and twice a week, a moisture mask. I drink more than the daily recommended amount of water, and I purposely do things to over moisturize my skin. NOTHING WORKS!!!!! Does anyone have any home remedies, or use something themselves that helps with dry skin? |

maybe your overmoisturizing your skin....and so your brain thinks that its already giving off enough oils, so your tricking your skin into believing its oily.
I had the same problem, t zone dry especially, i went to the organic grocery store and the lady over there gave me shark oil. you can use it alone or under moisturizer/foundation. It has worked amazingly, my skin feels great and ive only been using it for 3 day! you should check it out. the shark oil is one of natures best natural moisturizers, it has healing qualities too, its just amazing, i highly recomend it. |

The goat's milk products are really good. Careful not to slip in the bathtub when using them, though. =p
Slather your face in vitamin e oil at night. Works. Use cocoa butter all over your body when you're still wet from the shower. |

No I avoid exfoliants for the face, it is really bad for your face, so I try not to use them as a rule, period.
I have the goats milk at home, and it isn't enough moisture. I use a cleansing cloth for my face wash, but it is extra moisture, so it isn't drying. Reptilian is not a hot look for me! |

I've never had dry skin problems untill recently... I think it's mostly becuase I now work in a position were im constintly washing my hands. I know for a fact that washing your face or taking too many showers will also cause dry skin. Bathing in hot (not warm) water and drying your self with a towle right away are comon things ppl do that can trigger dry skin. Also keep your heat down in your house. High temp heat will easily dry out our skin.
First I sugest drink more water and let your body sweat once in awhile. When your body starts to dehydrate the first place it stops sourcing water is your skin! If it's mostly your face only let yourself wash it twice a day. If you feel a little icky in the middle of the day sprinkle a little water on your face and dab it with a clean paper towl or tisue. I'ts kind of like the 'wash your hair every second day' rule. It's hard, but works for me like wonders. Also one of my favorite products is the Vichy Normaderm soin hydrantant. I make sure to hydrate my face with it after every wash. For other dry skin, I had somone introduce me to Aveno (oatmeal thing). I heard that alot of lotions actualy cuase dryer skin in the long run, but this stuff hasnt done that as Ive needed to use it once or every other day. Vitamins A, C, and E are all good for good healthy skin. Vegies (pumpkin/spinish), Fruits, seeds, nuts, and good fats from fish or oliv oil etc are all good for making good healthy skin. |

I wash my face twice a day. Once in the morning in the shower or bath, and once at night. I use a cleansing milk, that I tissue off so that I am not using water.
My face is so dry, that it never gets a chance to feel dirty. The only time I ever feel like I need to wash my face is after a party or the gym. And like I said, I am drinking a tonne of water, probably over hydrating. The Vichy Normaderm would dry me out even further. It is for oily skin. It is meant to mattify. I use Biotherm for the day. And Marcelle, Modele, and Insitute Karite for the evening. |

just an idea but have you ever wondered if all that stuff your using may have negative affects to your skins mosture levels.. also my grandma uses baby oil for dry scalp.. maybe it might workon the face.. i dunno . but worth a try if nothin else works.. I would think it would make it greased out. who knows best of luck |

sometimes your skin reacts differently than youd expect, like for someppl wen you overmoisturize your skin thinks that its oily therefor produces less oils itself. You should definitly try the shark oil, and take a daily supplement of flak seed oil aswell, that might help since its known to help people with excema and such

^ Exactly... maybe you only need to wash your face once a day than? Than at night just rinse it with water. When I use to have a bit of dry skin on my face I use to exfoiliate... seemed to work for me?
Another idea I hav'nt tryed yet is having a glass of water beside your bed. Aparently the water in the cup is enough to moisten the air near you while you sleep. |

you only really need to wash your face once a day (i read this in a book). ever since i started doign that and using vitamin e, my skin hasn't broken out or anything. i'm on the oily side, though, so i'm not sure how to tackle your dry skin problem. and limit the products you use on your face. wash with something mild like dove (exfoliate a few times a week), and moisturize intensly at night. you should only have to wipe away drool and eye crusties in the morning. |

See that is the thing, save for the biotherm, everything I use is for sensitive skin. Nothing harmful and nothing to throw off the balance of my pH.
Exfoiliating really is only for those that have oily skin. It would make me shrivel up and crack. I have been trying to over moisture at night. I really like the idea of vitamin e oil though. I am going to try that tonight! |

another thing
try checking out the fashionista section of clubvibes http://www.clubvibes.com/forum/forum...m_id=32&city=1 those girls seem to know everything about this kind of stuff and stay away from vichy normaderm if you have dry skin, it will just make things worse |

exfoliating oily skin tends to cause it to produce more oil. ppl with oily skin fail to realize that their skin is producing more oil to compensate for fact that it's being washed way too many times. edit try washing your face once a day (at night) and use the vitamin e for a week. if you feel that you need more moisture in the morning, apply a good day time moisturizer, but don't wash your face again |

oh, oh, oh!
another thing you should try are cleansing oils. they go on and on about them in this thread. http://www.clubvibes.com/forum/topic...opic_id=394361 i've banned myself from buying more skin care stuff until i've used up the trillion products i already have. |
