close your mouth when you chew
nobody wants to hear the smacking\chewing\slurping noises you make while you eat. its disgusting. the noise makes me cringe. its just horrible.
yes, popcorn is crunchy. this does not mean that you should crunch each peice individual with your mouth open. its gross. yes, that candy is chewy, but close your mouth. you can chew just as well with it closed. fuck i bet you could even make a little less noise with your mouth opened if you just tried. top 3 pet peeve for me. close your mouth when you eat. |

I remember hearing this alot in elementary
"Wana see the passengers of TWA flight 800?" *opens mouth full of food Thinking back on it now, that is very fucked up, and morbid. Chewing with a mouth full of food is usually not a pretty sight, especially if the person putting on the show is a wide chewer. Last edited by ja_raul; Mar 22, 06 at 04:12 AM. |

exactly, but I don´t blame the people who do it.
It´s an educational problem. If your parents never taught you the right etiquette, and noone of your friends tells you, you won´t think it can disturb other ppl. You are just used to it! I have a roommate, I always think I should tell him how to fucking eat, but I am not sure about it, I am not his mother, it´s his problem. Another thing that pisses me off is when ppl take things like plates or glasses to the living room and just leave them there... and I am always the idiot who takes them back to the kitchen.. or when ppl never do the dishes... they pile up and they won´t disappear... and if they do, it must be for a reason... the same idiot has done them again... HAha, this is also one of my hugest pet peeves. Ever since I was three years old, my mom harped on me to keep my mouth closed and habit has kept it that way thank god. I don't like seeing other people's food going around in their mouth, it's rude, it's gross and it just makes sitting with someone and eating an unpleasant endeavor. Well said, karma for you.

Meh. I used to HATE when people did that. I then spent some time in asia where its pretty common among certain cultures and social classes. I think that the socially correct way of eating is subjective and if some people want to eat with their mouths open then giver! However when these "sloppy" eaters are considered overweight, my laidback approach fails and contradiction sets in. I can't stand fat people that chew loud!

My hatred of loud eaters is not limited by weightism, sexism, racism, or any such barrier. No matter what you do, you're gonna make noise when you eat. But if I can hear what you're eating from the next room, might be time to close that chomper when you chew. You look stupid, you sound horrible, and you will never get laid.

Regardless of whether it is acceptable in Asia or not, if you move here or have lived here or are living here... adapt. Plain and simple, the custom here is to chew with your mouth closed. But most people are so oblivious to this that asking for a simple thing as perception is asking for something that is unattainable. Not trying to be in any form offensive... but I find, at least with students who are on exchange from Asian countries, they tend to be very oriented towards themselves and have little or zero respect for the people around them. Having had friends who have students stay in their homes, they too can attest to this. |

Way to not be offensive

I don't think I need to go any further on how racist that sounds. |
