my 6 month old tire went flat...
my car is brand spankin new, the baby is like warrantied for everything
except... a snag (leading to a flat) in a tire due to a road hazard i ran over some kinda piece of rebar going over the alex fraser yesterday (i could not avoid it) and of course the damn tire i have to get needs to be special ordered, and its 200 bucks. fuck. and i could go with the newer model...but then i would have to get 2... and of course the damn delearship is closed on sundays, it happened pretty much 1/2 hr after it closed yesterday, and i have to swap cars with my mom tomorrow so i can get my ass to work (i hate her damn car) blah |

i dont know. 2 different places said it would take 7-10 days to order it, and kal tire is closed on sundays...so i couldnt check with them
i couldnt check with ANY kind of actual tire place...none of them are open on sundays...grrr...hopefully i'll have better luck tomorrow i dont know why its so special. one place had the prev version and the new one, but not that one |

uhh i've never heard of a car needing "special" tires.. unless it was a super rare car that no one makes tire sizes for.. but im pretty sure their just yanking your chain.. before you have them order it i suggest you check out other tire places..

$200/tire isn't actually that ridiculous. Perhaps a little high for whatever stock tire was on the car originally (assuming the rims are only 15", maybe 16"?). Since she's only buying one, its pretty important that she gets an exact match, which means theres a likely chance they don't stock that exact model and size. The special order will likely drive the pirce higher than tires they would have purchased in large quantites.
The dealership probably doesn't do this, but this happened to my truck a couple of years ago. I bought my tires from Kal Tire and they reimbursed me for the remaining treadlife on the damaged tire that couldn't be fixed when I had to buy new ones. Did the flat happen while you were driving?... Did you drive on the flat tire for a bit?...causing enough damage that they weren't able to just repair the puncture? Or was the type of puncture not repairable? Good luck Krista |

As long as it's the same size and same tread style (m/s, winter, as, etc) it shouldn't matter too much if you throw a different brand on.
It's not uncommon at all to pay $200/tire, it probably has a high speed and temperature rating. Never tell tire retailers it's from a road hazard, it's always your fault - aka - no warranty. Should of poked a hole in the side wall. Side wall damage is irreparable and almost always pro rated by tire retailers, as it's almost always manufacturer failure.
