And realy how many Canadians can speak fluent in English and French? If we cant even learn a second language why be so expectent for others who move here to be so fluent? By the way I believe India has over 30 national languages. Please go out and see the rest of the world before you try to state world facts around. |

Um again, this was a nation founded by immigrants for immigrants, when your ancestors moved here, they didn't make any effort to learn the native tongue of the country.
Wether you agree or not, we pride ourselves on being a multicultural society. Again, there is a difference between NOT SPEAKING THE LANGUAGE and just simply not being good at it. A lot of people CAN speak english but avoid it because a lot of white pissants tend to belittle people who struggle. When you travel around the world aren't you totally relieved to find someone who speaks english? I hear a lot of travellers bitch about how they hate being looked down upon or treated like shit because even though they're trying they suck at the local language. That's a funny double standard, isn't it? |

i can tell you from me & my asian friends experience, it's really hard to fit into the western society. we have to adopt a whole new language/culture, as there are always some assholes out there that are racist, or don't feel the need to be friendly with the color of skin. i myself have been assaulted verbally several times during my first year in canada in an elementary school, i was so glad that i had no freaking idea what they were saying, so i often nod and walks away... it didn't bother many anyways a lot of my asian friends pefer to stay with the asians, you often see a group of asians together but rarely with mix group of white or any, there maybe one or two but not much. it's like there's a untouchable boundary just because you are from another place. i myself have mix raced of friends, but the funny thing is all my asian friends thinks i'm "white washed" lol /end my smoke/thought of the day... my uncle met his wife at bar, she was visiting from Poland and barely spoke any english. she was really shy and wasnt able to understand anyone but they hit it off somehow. 10 years later and they are still together, happily married and she speaks really good english now. It just proves love is universal
