if it weren't for bad luck i'd have no luck at all
you know what i'm saying.
one thing after the next. no details needed. the most recent of which would be my precious sarah coming up with what appears to be a tear in her deep felxor tendon on her right front leg. so SO devastated. these injuries never are the same. scar tissue doesn't have the elasticity of tendon tissue. the best case senerio is that it doesn't get worse. so she may be retired to be my step daughters horse at the age of 4! we planned to give her to lindsay in 4 years or so, until then she'd be our track pony. but now..... my boyfriend knows how much she means to me and said we'll look into shockwave therapy, that'll cost like $3,000. we're sending her to the US this week. it kills me. |

I had a horse once. Then one day she was being used in a show (not by me) and upon landing a jump, shattered all the bones in her back left leg.
She'd live but never walk again. So needless to say was put down. I prettymuch stopped riding after that. |

that's rough, you almost never see it at the lower levels of showing. but a bad step is a bad step. i'm sure you yourself have taken one just walking down the road. |

thing is, sarah isn't even one of our racehorses. she's my pretty pinto barn pony. i use her to pony on in the morning. ponys are by far the hardest working horses at the track. by far. i never even thought about shock wave therapy because it's so expensive, but charlie said he'll look into it. the cool cast was taken off yesterday and it looks a bit better, the vet was optomistic. but of course this is my baby, any small blemish kills me. this is the horse i bought from a meat sale when she was a baby and raised up myself. to the breeding shed she goes. Some of my extended family had a horse they couldn't keep due to space.
The husband was busy making arrangments with some kind of feed company. His wife quickly snuck behind his back and gave the horse away. Man was he ever choked. He really wanted the $535.37! True story, this stuff actaully happens! |

Hope your horse gets better....My mom is a vet and owns quite a few , so I grew up around them. Horses are a huge investment, especially when they're lame and require a vet. Unless your horses are making money for you ( my mom studs them out or rents them to peple that teach lessons) I think they are a complete waste. Good luck.

hahaha thanks. now that we've brought down a lot of the swelling, the vet said it's not her deep flexor tendon nor her suspensory ligaments. she just wretched it hard and there's what looks like a rupture in the joint capsule. a month off and she should be ok. my old boss is giving me his spooky little paint pony to use. this could be fun. |
