i just don't understand the complaints. it costs more to insure an object if the object is worth more. that's why your rates are 3k/year and i pay less then your grandparents roadstar with only 8 years of having a license. is it not safe to say that your car and your grandparents' is worth much more then my 90 jetta?
everyone complains and whines. well after paying insurance for say 2 months and your car is stolen. i don't hear anyone saying "well shit i only paid $600 into my insurance so far, i will only accept a $600 payment for my stolen car" |

i like having the option for private insurance.
because of a lupole with my father's insurance, i'm getting my vehicle insured for $1800 a year ($150/month). not bad for a SUV that's not even 4 years old! plus, ICBC was charging him more for one vehicle than a BMW, a Jeep, and a harley davidson. that's right, for the cost of one vehicle's insurance in BC, my father can insure a car, a SUV and a motorcycle. fuck ICBC. private all the way! |

I find it foolish that people would drive around with insurance from either, out of province or another area in the province. Insurance rates are lower in more remote parts of BC. If you live in the lower mainland, and are using insurance from Alberta, pray to God that you don't get into an accident and your insurance company finds out.
I have seen that screw more than one person on one occasion. I got into an accident with a Semi-Truck from out of province. The truck driver drove over my front end, entirely his fault, and he said that to his insurance company as well. It still took several months to settle as the insurance company was trying to find a way to make it my fault. Private insurance is a bitch. I will take ICBC anyday. |

^ heh, word. i didn't get my insurance "rezoned" or whatever when i moved here from the island. i got in an accident and had absolutely no coverage -- have to pay the whole claim myself. luckily the other persons bogus injury claim was thrown out, or i could have been paying for years.

Completely unrelated but funny none the less
My bf and his friend smoked some guys in their car, my bf and his friend were driving a jacked up cherokee(yes I'm from Mission) and the other guys were driving a beater so you can imagine what happened to their cars. Anywhooo turns out the guys they hit were not only crack heads but were smoking it while driving. They jumped out of their car yelling no ickey bickey, no ickey bickey. on took of into the trees and the other assured my bf that there was no damage(which there clearly was and it was serious) Apparently ickey bickey means icbc in some sort of language and it strikes fear in the hearts of crackheads. |

Yeah i know... that's why i'm FOR privatized insurance.. meaning that you don't have to get your basic coverage from ICBC.

mine isn't new, nor is it worth all that much, yet i still pay quite a bit after my discount. why? because my car is a 2-door. if i were to insure the same car, but the 4 door model (worth the same amount), i would pay quite a bit less. now that is ridiculous. not all 2 door cars are "sports" cars. i think instead they should a little more into the actual mechanics of the car and it's capabilities before they consider it that. |

i just don't think insurance should be mandatory.
You crash without insurance, you get sewed and pay out of your pocket. You have insurance and get hit by someone who doesn't ... your company still pays for repair. That's the way it should be Either way private or ICBC ... you still have the potential to get screwed. I don't like ICBC and think they're gouging us, the simple fact that insurance is mandatory is annoying. Plus whats up with the $350 deposit for a claim. Someone keys your car .... its like $350 paint for a door panel , and the insurance ain't saving you sheet. So yeah ICBC can lick my nuts, they're all crooks ... private or otherwise. |
