Vancouver event recs based on your listening habits!

Hm, last.fm will introduce a new service soon...
...I'm beta-testing it these days and it's awesome! :)

I think it will go live by the end of month...

How does it work? First, of course, you need a last.fm account!

Then, scrobble tracks! Just let the plugin run in the background while listening to your music... Obviously you need to submit tracks first, so that it knows what you're listening to and can base the concert recs on your profile!

I get the following recs for my place...

Let's see what it comes up with for the Vancouver area...



Not much...but that's because it's still beta. Of course, the service only works if the last.fm users enter concerts and start contributing, which will happen when it goes public...everyone can add events. So if you're an artist/dj and have a gig in Van, submit it to the site and everyone who played your tracks and lives in the Vancity area or nearby will see your gig as a recommendation in the Events tab!



It's not perfect, but once it goes live, this will be great...

Events System

It's finally here: concert listings on Last.fm, complete with recommended gigs on your dashboard and more. We'll be adding more listings daily, but if you can't find any of your upcoming concerts in the system you can add them yourself. While testing this internally we already discovered tons of gigs we'd not have known about otherwise, and it's a great way to see what your friends are going to too. Go live!

Only 1 recommended event within 310 miles of Vancouver 1 week ago...
...now it are 2 pages, and that only within 60 miles of Vancouver!

It looks like some Vancouverites started contributing...yay!

(still nothing compared to Zurich tho, I get 7 pages of event recs now, haha!)

I see you're getting Trail of Dead in December...hmm, nice...
