2007
2006 was *excellent* so far, lots and lots of great releases...
...just what I needed after the rather rather dry '05 and especially '04! I wonder how 2007 will be... Some stuff to look forward to: New Portishead!!! (okay okay, they say this every year... ...but it might be more than just rumours this time!) New Balligomingo!!! (please tell me this is true...not confirmed yet!) Definitely coming up: VAST - April Jens Gad - Achillea 2 Both very much looking forward to... ...especially the new VAST...awesome!! Also, a new Air might be released... ...not a big fan of them any more tho. Maybe new NIN, but yeah, never liked them that much. Emiliana Torrini? There's rumours...let's just hope they're true! And perhaps a new Architecture in Helsinki, that would be nice. Then, the industrial/ebm stuff...gonna be almost impossible to top 2006 as it was fucking brilliant for this genre but there's some goodies coming up: Skinny Puppy, Absurd Minds, new Type O, yelworC, Cervello Elettronico (this is gonna be *HOT* I promise!) and maybe even a fresh Grendel! Hmmm....what are you looking forward to in 2007 musically-wise? :) Last edited by anewlife; Nov 15, 06 at 11:51 AM. |

AvB's ASOT this year wasn't bad...still doesn't beat 2004 imo.... Ya 2006 was great for a ton of artists: Slayer, Iron Maiden, preview of the new Metallica.... Electronica was no disappointment either: The long awaited full length album by The Digital Blonde - Synthology, which in my opinion was the best album of the year, Wizzy Noise, Sabotage Part II, & and Astrix's follow up to Artcore should be released some time in the next few weeks.... Some good house was released this year too, Chocolate Puma - Always & Forever, Crazy P - Sun Science, Moby - Dream About Me [Ingrosso Mix] were just a few of my faves..... I've had some word on a few labels for releases in 2007, both in trance and techno genres, and it looks really solid for the first 1/4 of the year. :) |

Okay, let's get this going! :D
http://www.dnbarena.ru/images/news/s...cd-861-685.jpg Mist:ical - Eleventh Hour (Soul R) Such high hopes, such a disappointment! Both the Intalex and Calibre solo stuff was a lot better...sigh. Seriously, if I were a DJ, I wouldn't drop any of those tunes... Not feeling it at all! :( Last edited by anewlife; Dec 11, 06 at 03:30 AM. |

best album of 2007?
skinny puppy - mythmaker Skinny Puppy returns with Mythmaker, their most ambitious record ever. As dark, beautiful, twisted and angry as always, Skinny Puppy take the listener on a roller coaster ride through their Industrial/Techno/Prog world. http://www.musicremedy.com/s/Skinny_...aker-3571.html they just raised the bar, we'll see who will be able to compete... ...excellent, excellent album!! :) |

I'd love to hear some new Emiliana Torrini and NIN
and of course i'd love to hear new Portishead - i've been waiting for years but I heard a rumour that Beth Gibbons is heavy into the drugs and her bandmates are waiting for her to sober up before they create/release a new album. However, if that is the case I don't think their album is going to have the same effect as their older stuff just because that darkness is essentially what makes Portishead so captivating. I want Interpol to release a new album really badly and I'd like to see them do something more innovative with this one. I like Air, I wasn't a huge fan of 'talkie walkie' but if they were to go back to something more organic sounding I think it would be fantastic. I've discovered a lot of great electro bands this year and it would be neat to hear/discover some more. Other artists i'd like to hear new music from: Blonde Redhead, Bloc Party, Erykah Badu, PJ Harvey, and Massive attack (even though they released 'collected' fairly recently) |

Metropolis Mail Order: Enjoy The Fall
a-l-b-u-m-o-f-t-h-e-y-e-a-r (if you're into that kind of shit) great lyrics, fantastic atmosphere, varied (clubtunes, midtempo, ballad) and lots of good ideas, melodies that won't leave your mind, great vox, top-notch production, awesome artwork...heartbreaking story beautifully put into words...when did we last get an ebm'ish concept album anyways? fuck, it made me cry. this album has it all. i doubt we'll get sth better in 2007. let's move on. 2008 can begin... (yep, I know nobody likes that kind of music on fnk...hehe, pfffffff...) ;) Last edited by anewlife; May 13, 07 at 05:03 PM. |
