Tony Allen (who held down the drums for Africa 70) has recently joined up with Damon Albarn, Paul Simonon (The Clash), and Simon Tong (The Verve) to form The Good, The Bad and The Queen.

^It's a pretty damn good project.

if you like Fela & other Afrobeat artists, i reccommend checking out LA's Afrodisiac Soundsystem, aka DJs Jed, Haul & Mason. They've put out 4 "Afro Heat" ep's and a CD entitled "A Handful Of ASS" all on the Kajmere Sound label. They produce really cool afrobeat remixes using classic dance, funk & hiphop beats. They have several Fela mashups with the likes of Queen, Jacko, Rayvon & Gap band, Kano & more. There's also a great Tony Allen mashup w/ Gwen Guthrie, Manu Dibango vs Indeep is a personal favorite of mine (Last Night Makossa Saved My Life?). The CD has a bunch of exclusive remixes that don't appear on the vinyl, plus a bunch of classic afrobeat cuts that these guys have unearthed on digging trips to the African continent.
