Best Place to Buy Trance in Vancouver
hey guys
I have noticed that at some of the stores i have been to downtown that there isnt a huge amount of Trance records and the stuff they do have seems to be pretty commercial stuff. Can someone point me in the right direction (if there is one) towards some places that have a good selection of stuff. Thanks |

vinyl records has a bunch of used and some new trance vinyl.... beatstreet has a tiny selection.... Can't recall boomtown having some trance.... but there house...tribal....progressive.... section is impressive..... and so is the DNB....
Remix has a small section to.... Keep in mind you can specially order any vinyl..... I think the only reason why the shops really don't carry that much trance is because it simply does not sell.... It may sell at a rave but it doesn't appear to sell when it comes down to vinyl.... |

I don't believe it costs you anything extra.... I think you just need to put like a "down payment" type thingy for them to order it.... With Remix however if your a regular customer they'll just order it on it and notify you without you having to put money down.... But again you'll have to check with the guys at Boomtown on what there policy is |

well I'll just let you know that if you go over at vinyl records that they will most likely assist you with anything that your looking for. David (the owner) and Ben (who works there) are really awesome and know there music. They will help you for anything rare that your looking for.... The customer service there is overwhelming..... And they virtually have EVERYTHING on vinyl..... Anything from electronica music to karate lesson's on vinyl.... An amazing assortment.... I personally find that vinyl records provides what I would call "secret weapons" to use in any set.... Its a goldmine.

then again, i have all the classics i ever wanted. So i go to remix records, beatstreet has a great selection of trance. I'd recommend boomtown, but most of boomtown's stuff can be found at remix for cheaper. |

you should be able to get the guys to show you a list of the new releases they can buy, from my experience watts and nemesis (2 distributors in new york) both have a wickid selection of trance we used to order from nemesis weekly and we would email the releases to customers, im pretty sure boomtown buys from one of those distributors you should ask wood. maybe things have chenged 3 years from hipnotik but im pretty sure theyre still in business, and as far as compared to ordering online you can look at new releases on friday and they arrive in shop by tuesday.

^yeah watts & nemesis have both gone belly up since then. so has majestic which was NA's best trance distributor, that's where we used to get all our hard trance, acid techno, etc. since those spots went under it's been impossible to get anything other than super commercial trance records. we still get new trance weekly, but nowhere near the volume we used to. as for special orders, we'll usually do it for you without a taking a deposit.

I get all my vinyl at a place off of granville called "Remix Records". The owner there is a nice bloke named Jim, he's always reluctant on searching for the extremely hard to find vinyls for me. It's probably due to me only wanting to buy shiz that you can't get over here. There's a downfall to it as well, remix can only order in what he can get from his supplier so the second best thing to do that i've personally found is go to any MONEYMART and get one of those mastercards you use as a debit card, ends up costing you like 25 $ to just pay for the card but, anytime you go and put money on the card you can use it on the Internet as a normal mastercard , i've recently purchased some vinyl's canada will never carry so try out the Moneymart mastercard thing, it's fuckin mint mates.

the one major things you have to be whilling to do as well Chris, is being ready to special bundle order records from the UK via Credit card, I had to do that for a while for some of the rarer Progressive tracks back in the day..Oh one purchase recently I found was really funny was, Having to specially order Armin Van Buuren's Control freak incl. Sander Van Doorn Remix.
