Trance/Progressive House
They're going to make a huge comeback soon.... ohhh yeah =)
Whats so great about these genres is not only do they mix really well, they also blend into house, techno, breaks, tribal, perfectly when done properly! I hope to see many DJ's here in Vancouver work on that sound =) |

nice post.
I think it will take some time before this sound catches on with the younger 'raver' type crowd. IMO prog. house/trance is more appealing to an older crowd. It might not be too big in Vancouver these days,,, but there are many good club nights around. Sykonee- What are you talking about? I would think it's safe to say that the prog. sound has already made it's comeback,,, maybe you don't notice it as much in the OK. K-Pryde- I'll send you my demo as soon as it's done. Also,,, if your into this sound,,, make sure you don't miss Tiesto or Sander Klienberg next week,,, shitty thing is they're both on the same night. peace. Last edited by D; Aug 06, 02 at 12:51 AM. |

What i do is i put as many genres of music into my set as i can for example I'll start a set with minimal then into breaks then into tranceybreaks then into trance then into hard trance then into techno then into acid trance then into acid techno then into Psy/goa and finally finish it off with some hardcore. I have a lot of records... but i never just went after one style. actually, i was collecting uplifting trance for about a year.. then everything else came. I've never actually played a set like that in real life... i always do it when im sitting on a weekend stoned out of my mind.. best way to waste 2 hours :) |

you make some damn good points there Jim.
I hope you weren't making refrence to me,,, anyways I'm not really spinning Sasha/Digweed style at all. I have both of thier new LP's but they sit close to the back of my case. My style is much more along those of Paul Van Dyk and Tiesto,,, but I also love playing tribal and tech house,,, they're fuckin awesome. I've got some cool bootlegs too. As long as you won't 'puke',,, I'll give you my demos as soon as they're done. your 100% right about the comeback thing too. peace. |

I wasn't referring to anyone in general.
Like I said, I'm not a fan of the progressive house sound, but hey man, what ever turns your crank, right? I'm just tired of the sound on a whole, I want something new, something funky, actually I want something really RETRO!!! That's why I think Electro is going to be the next big genre, the passed few big shows I've either been at or have been working, have tossed in a couple of really awesome tracks that are completely carried by a crazy retro synth line, and the responses from the crowds have been nothing but favourable to the resurrgance of these 80's synth lines. For years electronic music worked really hard at "NOT SOUNDING ELECTRONIC", they were striving to get a full "REAL" sound out of the music, what we're going to be seeing in the future is electronic music getting back to it's roots, and start sounding alot more "ELECTRONIC", cause no matter what anyone says 80's synth lines are really fucking cool. cubed |
