no matter how hard i try i'll always go through a temporary time period where i dont feel my music anymore
but i'll listen to other peoples work and sometimes just listening to someone who is so crap inspires me cuz i know i can do better =p other than that if i hear someone who just amazing and pulls off extremely creative things... it inspires me to try harder and work on new things |

Re: How do u inspire yourself?
ketamine and mushrooms...
hahah no not really...i just listen to other peoples stuff and get inspired to do things my own way..the only thing is i don't have any equiptment and very few records, and i know for sure that if i do get tables all my money would be going towards vinyl, so i may aswell just smoke jib..it would probably be less addicting. |

jib would seriously probably be cheaper in the long run.
and after enough jib you would prolly think you were a superstar dj anyways so you'd end up getting the best of both worlds. hmmmm.... i think ive been investing in the wrong area... |

There are a whole bunch of different things you can do... and it's not specific to DJ'ing and Producing. It's important that you first identify why you are not motivated... I mean it could be that there isn't a great local demand and sometimes even an appreciation for DJ's and Producers like yourself or it could be other things IE: lack of money to buy new vinyl or lack of time to produce. Whatever the reason, we all go through the lows and the highs. I would suggest talking with another breaks DJ/Producer to gain some further inspiration. Like Ryan said, watching Czech (his mentor) or one of your own is a great idea.
Peace. |

I as well went through a period recently where I was feeling altogether unapriciated and uninspired. What wound up helping me was I noticed one of my best friends was becoming very interested in spinning so I just taught him the basics. Six or Eight months later I'm bringing him out to shows with me to tag. I think everyone here is right in telling you to get together with other artists. Even just going to a buddy's place and tagging for a while can be good. Maybe even try going to see some good live music or spoken word could be good for you. If none of this works you should look at what brought you here in the first place and decide if it's still there.
It's all about the beats... peace Global |

Dreams inspire me but that's only because I write words, not music. (shame I can hardly remember most of 'em...)
While I haven't made any of my own music, I tend fiddle around with friends' programs and come up with some all right stuff. I usually don't think about it that much. Just go with the flow and something'll come of it. |
