Guitar??
alright. Ive gotten into electronic music about a year and a half, to 2 years ago. over that time ive FELL IN LOVE. yes...
before that ive listened to mostly rock stuff. old and new. and ive played the guitar for about 5 or 6 years. Now getting into Electronic music, im starting to produce my own music. Playing around with all the little gadgets and all that, making lots of funny sounds  ANYWAYS in the past, ive played around with amps and guitars alot and ive found that guitars have ENDLESS sound effects you can put onto them and make em sound all funky I now get kinda curious... can i put the two together??? I listen to tonnes of electronic music and i dont recall hearing a guitar. with the exception of the song White Sand by Sunlounger. theres got to be a reason for that. do people just NOT LIKE hearing a guitar in electronic music? i thot itd be smart to ask some ppl who know what theyre talking about. Should i take the risk of interpreting my previous passion of guitars into my new music? or should i play it safe and stick to my synthesisers and such?? thanks alot :D |

Buddy, the guitar sounds are all over electronic music and I think you could seriously contribute if you're dedicated. There are lots of bassline sounds that are similar to a bass guitar which are typically made by synthisyzers. But the idea is the same. What kind of guitar do you mean?
Sounds like you dig the trance, but the Young Punx (a breaks group) will even bring electrics guitars to a show and play live to add a little extra oomf to their set. I think a guy strumming on a guitar creating music beats a guy playing a piano trying to simulate a guitar any day (with exceptions of course) |

worth considering: a guitar-to-MIDI interface.
they kinda suck, but if you've developed your guitar skills enough that you feel you can be expressive with a guitar, then perhaps that could be your interface to your synth sounds as well. |

i can assure you that not only guitar, but probably every musical instrument on earth has been incorporated into the edm genres.
listen to stuff like amon tobin or the chemical brothers for inspiration. Both these groups/artists produce music that is usually a well balanced blend of both acoustic and electronic instruments. Last edited by -evil-duerr-; Apr 17, 07 at 07:35 PM. |
