*not here to start a war*

but in reply to u aaron, icey hasnt really being playing a different sound, he's just been producing trax that are all over the place....
i mean like "king of pain", "cross eyed sally"......he's been mixing it up, but to me it sorta looks like he doesnt know what to do....

and whats wrong with playing classics? i still play stuff that i played a yr ago or more....or even cheesy trax? u can't tell me that any dj plays a whole set with out playing atleast 1 anthem or rmx of an anthem.....i'm just babblin now, but i hope u understand my point

acctually Adam, Icey has been playing a lot of more nu-skooly tracks when he plays out and doesnt play too much Florida anymore.. You cant pull that shit off in most cities... If you have heard any of his recent mixes out live, he has been banging all the big nu tracks.. There are only a few cities that are behind as far as breaks go and Vancouver is one of em. Go to T.O. and play that stuff and youll never get booked again.

well i haven't and was basing my post on trax that i've seen in record stores......reffering to my lack of experience (see my post in "florida breaks" in "punching bag")

i havent heard icey spin since summer love 2 yrs ago.....all i've seen from him are trax....and the ones that i've seen seem to be "spread out"....thats what i was trying to say

good to see you too ryan... funny shit watching thse dudes flip you upside down for a couple minutes...

i cant believe how many people hate just because they have this term "florida" stuck in their heads. these are funky breaks, it doesn't matter where they are from, and most of them are only distributed through florida. I played boogie pimps, bassbin twins, 315, mixshow movers, these guys are from all over the world. i even played an original of my own that got the crowd screaming. I made alot of people dance with my selections and to the few jaded folks who think "oh i heard that 2 years ago", get a life, have some fun, if you don't like the music leave the room, wait for later, then come back. I came to do what i was paid to do, and the majority of people who I talked to enjoyed my music. im from out of town, i dont know half of you, im not standing behind the decks seeing how many promos and unreleased tracks i can shove down your throat, even though i did play a few. i am there to give those interested an enjoyable dancing experience.

my style may be a little behind, but that's what makes me a good dj, i dont follow trends and i dont play just to impress people or get high profile gigs. i play because i love the music, i was around 8 years ago when it emerged, and i've been in love with it ever since.

PS to the jaded kids, it's cool, but don't forget where you came from... a few of you standing at the back of the room has got nothing on the couple hundred who actually gave a fuck.

First off I'm not a "hater." You're not Nelly, and the song isnt "ride wit' me." I dont care where a song is produced or distributed. Im talking about that cheesy sound thats commonly known as "florida breaks" the genre.

They still make the florida sound. Doesnt matter where they're from.

I dont care all that much if its an old track. I care if its well produced, good quality music, which florida isnt.

I dont want to hear nothing but promos, i want to hear good music. The reason ppl seemed to be enjoying it so much is because most of the ppl in that room were newbies that are first getting into the music, who've probably just learned the difference between jungle and breaks. They dont know any better.

If im paying $50 + dollars for a party, you'd best gawdamned well believe that i want to be impressed. I want to have my socks knocked off! You're getting PAID MONEY TO IMPRESS PPL WITH YOUR DJ TALENT AND SKILL. Im really glad you have such a love for the music, but so do i. I havent seen anyone lately trying to pay me good money to watch me play, just because i have love for the music.

Yah dude I would've given a fuck a year and a half ago. That stuff was fresh then, and i didnt know any better then to listen to cheesy, un-original music.

I did like that funky town track you played. THAT was good fun.

i like that funky town track too.

but anyway man, i'm sorry you didnt feel like you got your 50 bux worth, but i'm not sorry that i do play for the kids. sampling as a whole is unoriginal, but the way it all comes together is art. i had a solid set, and i know it, and if 10 percent of the people who heard my set didnt like it, that leaves 90 percent who did. i play sober, i play the crowd and the crowd was into it. again, im sorry you feel cheated.

James don't listen to anybody. I am not a huge fan of florida whut so ever. But I knwo you can drop it somehow with me liking it. I've ragged on florida djs for so long now and your one of the few who I can say I am totaly impressed by!!

Oh and Icey is a bandwagoner. Thats all. I feel he has totally sold out the fl funk sound.
