nothing is wrong with getting the lovers moving and the haters leaving. i try to keep a little bit of everything in my crate so that i can go whatever direction the crowd digs. but i dont see any problem with playing classics here and there, and real funky breaks are all mashups of some sort. i can honestly only think of 5 tracks that i played that werent brand new, but i guess you can only open your ears so far when you are deaf...
gumbee - future retro fixx - make it boom spice - rockin the joint 315 - funky town mixshow movers - watchin but anyway, what is this jaded movement with breaks about anyway, it's like all the junglists 3 years ago. it doesnt have to be nu to rock, and shit man, the top 40 isn't funky breaks these days, look at the billboard list, it's all nu skool oriented. but i understand your conclusion on my sound, coz i do go for rips that will touch a wide audience and those can be considered commercial. but i dont just drop them to save my ass, you should have watched me, i put it all together. im there to make as many people dance as i can, i can't appease everyone. I think what he means JAmes by top 40 is all the Florida sound is sounding like top 40 radio music.. I mean if you think about it, most of the samples used in Florida tracks are from old and new top40 songs right?
Anyways, Nice to see ya again, and sorry we didnt hang out at all, I was too drunk to keep up convos with anyone = P |

No. Top 40 breaks means that theres a list of about 40 tracks of florida breaks, that me and others have been hearing non stop for the last 2.5 years. Icey's moved on hasnt he? Hes the king of florida and hes been playing a different sound for the last year and a half.
Look in the punching bag section for my slam on florida. Im not going to type it out again. |
