being able to get gigs in vancouver isn't a big deal when the majority of people who go to parties are dumb junkie fucks would be content to dance to rocks banging around in a fuckin washing machine, or when you're buddies with the biggest rave promoter in vancouver... and cinto i didn't mean to offend you, but like wiggles said im one of the guys who is getting sick and tired of only hearing florida breaks...i can understand you have a passion for music and you play what you like, which i respect cuz if i were to dj id do the same. Everyone you just named is all fine and dandy but how many decent regular electronic music club nights can you name off the top of your head? I bet you couldnt get past your first hand. Im talking about regular nights with LOCALS. We dont need to bring in out of town djs all the time, even though it may be nice from time to time. We need an established base of electronic music playing locals to support a healthy club scene. Only then will it grow into a toronto or montreal. Not through out-of-towners.

Sean! you put me in the class of Spears.... sweet... hey like i said bro, to each their own.
-ak47- I know exactly what you mean... I was at freestylers when they were here just a little while back and they kciked some serious ass. I would have love to have gone and seen Krafty Kutz and the plump DJs but i had to work and i am planing on going to see Freq Nasty when he comes right around the corner. the reason being is because i don't want to see this scene die anymore than it has been... I've been in it for 8 years now and have seen it die once before and it brought itself back up... small little things that get to a certain point, as this post was heading for a bit there, is what is destroying our scene, what's left of it, here in Vancouver. blah blah blah yeah i know but it's true. anyway everyone... I hope we enjoy what we have coming our way for 2003 from many of you local producers, promoters and DJs... keep on the look out as we all work together in our own was to try and help out! Peace Cinto :keebler: |

YOU DONT HAVE TO LISTEN TO JUST FLORIDA BREAKS. how many club nights with florida breaks djs have there been in van? none. i cant remember any in the past half year or so. last i remember was tony faline in the summer. how many club nights with nu-skool (uk or otherwise) breaks djs have there been in recent past? krafty, adam freeland, tipper, skool of thought, freq nasty, pete emms, mike grimes, dig dug/sir kutz, melting man is coming...if i bothered to check the events listing right now i bet i could find a half dozen more. and guess what? i havent seen you at a SINGLE one of those shows. In fact i havent seen you at any club nights, or events anywhere in recent memory except for plaza raves. so stop trying to be so negative and actually get out there and support those djs that spin the music you speak so highly of, instead of trying to cut down our locals who work really hard to try to be at the forefront of the music they love. |

Some people have more important things in their lives to do, then see every dj that comes to town.... |

I guess if you like tech and deep house its pretty sweet. Isnt that mostly what we have in van? |

^probably the two most abundant types(I happen to love both), but theres lots of other house too. By abundant I mean abundant, making no comparisons, cuz comparing ourselves to New York or even Toronto or Monteal(who both have atleast 1.5 million more people than here) is unfair. For a city our size, I think our selection is pretty damn good, especially in terms of big talent coming here, which to me is most important. I mean Ill go to a couple of regular nights but the majority of the nights I go to are to see a big name DJ; few people can afford to go clubbing downtown twice or even once a week unless theyre rich(clubbings damn expensive man, i spend $100 when i go out easily...), which is perhaps why there are so many deep house nights since I guess its really trendy and alot of its folling have tons of cash.
Yeah I agree there are barely any trance, jungle or breaks nights, but the majority of people here dont listen to it(atleast who are of clubbing age), or atleast have many other preferences(like myself). Theres atleast one night per week and plenty of really good ones on the weekends, it aint top40 or hiphop but if I want to listen to house any day of the week, I can. Dont get me wrong tho, I think we should have more non-house electronic nights, especially trance. |

the shitty part about the clubbing aspect with breaks, to be exact nu skool breaks is that everyone talks the shit , "oh bring in soul of man he rips it" then you go and theres noone there, same with meat katie, and even krafty kuts, to an extent. and freq nasty, he played at elemnet whats the capacity like 150 people, compare that with tony faline hwere the place was packed, im not much of a fan of tony faline but when youre someone like grooverober dooin lime nights spending twice the amount of money on soul of man than tony faline, and getting half the turnout something is wrong, and until people actually show up to these shows were gonna keep on seeing florida djs who will bring out the crowds

I had this message all written up and ready to put in but after reading it over I though to myself, "how can you diss people from their ignorance on a music genre?" I cant..
Some people strive to play different shit all the time and some people like the same old shit.... So I guess as the saying goes "To each their own", right Cinto?? |

Every time I'm at a party I see the DJ providing a good time for everyone.
It's funny how they get criticized on the boards for playing "cheesy" tracks, or top 40 songs... Like someone already said, they play to please the crowd. And if the crowd is feeling it, what's wrong with top 40? |

^ that doesn't mean you have to bash the guy for not being as knowledgable about something as you.
