but not only that, if someone said they hated jungle (like I have before) they would get flamed to no end... total bullshit! and might I also note that jungle can be just as repetitive as trance... |

The whole Top100 list of Djs is complete joke, easily less than half of them dont deserve to be on there(in terms of their Djing ability). All it is is a popularity contest (ie Paul Oakenfold, etc.). But whatever, like pretty much every other genre out there: I really like it but I dont love it, thats why I pretty much only listen to house, not because I only like that genre but because I like it alot more than anything else... To say any genre of music is bad is fucking ignorant, and to whoever it was that started this thread needs to get their head checked. What exactly are you trying to prove by starting this thread? Quit hatin. |

but i should point out, i'm NOT talking about PVD or Ferry Corsten, i might not totally dig on their tunes but i can appreciate the creativity behind what they're doing. But when i do my ordering each week for my shop, and i see 50 new trance covers of pop songs of the past 30 years, i can't help but think that somebody's pumping out assembly-line club hits without a trace of artistic process. And i highly doubt, if confronted, that the faceless producers behind these tracks would deny any of my accusations. as i said before, if that's your job then good on ya. but that is not music for music lovers, it's a soundtrack for mass flailing. i guess somebody's gotta do it... |

you people have no idea the creativity it takes to make an amazing trance set.. Because each trance song sounds different from another.. It takes pure artistry to create an amazing trance song.
For instance.. rank 1.. making airwave.. that song is an amazing song.. its the perfect example about the creativity it takes to make a trance song. But hey.. you all like your jungle.. i dunno, jungle.. music that a retarded baby with 1 hand can make. |

The epic elements of the music does not make it trance. Those came strong only after late 98-99. The hard loopy drone that made trance, trance and not techno had been dropped in this new 'trance" form... It would be like still calling drum and bass, drum and bass if it had a soild 4 on the floor beat. Or even speed garge with out the bass line.
It's just stupid. I don't know,,, I've only been listing to trance for 10 years or more. I only heard the sounds that came out of rave, and hardcore(old school), in the early proto-trance 150-170BPM, (90-92), that hardened up with soild kick of the 909 (92-93) and slowed down to the 135-150 tempos. I only heard the progresive sounds come in 95-97, and then epic chease the took over from that. But what do I know, you've been about for 2 maybe 3 years. You must know better cause you pop out a few overly marked names so quickly. You must know better then me. Last edited by Crazy Dave; Mar 20, 03 at 05:58 PM. |

Agree~ looking through global size trance is greatly appreciated, but Vancouver is also a city with a large number of house/jungle/breaks fans and that we all have to accept, well people have their own opinions :soak: cheers

I think alot of this genre division just stems from the youngsters going to partys. it's so cliqish just like high school. oh! well trance is cool "i luv trance" oh wait, jungle's cool now "imma junglist"
the first few times i heard dnb i was like whoa, not my style, but not like 'OH THIS SUX' cuz i obviously know all and see all right? now i fuckin luv dnb, and i still love trance. and if you don't like it just stfu then. I am not a big fan of country, but do i go around constantly saying country suxors!@!##%^^#% |
