bleh.. got some recording problems

heres the 411

plug in md into line in on sound card. I can hear the sound thru my computer speakers. its all plugged in correctly.

Go to record with sound forge and it doesn't pick any sound up.
I've tried other programs as well

I remember this happened to me a year back and i needed to download a patch for volume control i believe.

any suggestions?

do you know what kinda sound card you have?

i have sound blaster live and i have to go directly into the sound card settings (the sound card software) to choose the source of recording.....

so yeah i suggest that you find out what kinda card you have, then go directly into the settings to set the recording source to line in

I have a shitty sound card... really basic. came with my pc, its not an aftermarket sound card.

i've recorded line in before, so i know it works.

I remember downloading a patch off of download.com before i formatted..

open up your mixer panel. That little icon of ether a mixer, or speaker on the bottom right hand of the screen. You will need to set the record input to line in.

On the normal MS control panel, aka the one that looks like a little speaker, once you double click on it this mixer will show up. Click on the title menu that says options, then Properties. A new screen will come up with a choice to adjust volume for play back or recording, click on the bullet for recording. The first screen you had will change in to volume adjust for recordoing, there should be a check box for line in.

what gets monitered aka coming out, has nothing to do with what input it's trying to record from.
