Just wondering am I the only one....

..who hates almost all rap. Seriously, i hang with my friends and thats mostly what they listen to. It seems like back in grade 9 everyone started listening to rap, but i've always never been able to stand it. Obviously there are a very few tunes i don't mind, but it seems i'm very alone in my dislike of the genre.

I like old rap. Old gansta rap. Hip hop is hip hop, including the aspects of r&b.

Some of the raps ar pretty good, coz of the melodies........

but mostly i hate it, just because the lyrics this days ar becoming too violent.........swearing alot............making everybody who listen to rap to act like a pimp...........yo yo yo, J/k!!

i would like rap more if they hv better lyrics..... :PartEkid:

i tell people what to do and how to think?

hahahahahaha

i happen to be opinionated. and yes, i'm just as opinionated in person.

all i said was that judging from your initial post, it doesn't sound like you're listening to GOOD rap/hip hop.

and yes, i do know a lot of things i feel passionatly about. that's the way it should be, i think.

I hate most rap due to the lyrics, however some guys definately know how to write, so it is qute a generalization. Mostly i ahte rap due to the lack of complexity in the arrangement to the background instruments, the lack of anything more then a simple structured song, and fact that most rappers worry more about their image than their music. There are a few rap songs that don't fit this profile (very few), and those are the only ones i like.

RAP means MCing. MCing is 1 part of the 4 elements of HIP HOP, which includes: b boying, graffing, DJing, and MCing.

Aside from the odd tune and some older 80s stuff rap just never really did much for me...I think its because people tend to listen to and enjoy music they can relate to...and as someone who grew up in the 80s, going to a private high school, and leading a pretty sheltered life (thankfully those days are behind me), I can't say that rap ever really "spoke" to me in the way that other music genres did...but hey, if everyone likeld everything we'd be a pretty boring lot, now wouldn't we?

i ahve to agree with kevin ona few things here. first of all is the structure of the song itself..i find that many rap acts are complecent to really on production that is very rudimentary and non complex tho there are a few exceptions to this. producers such as timbaland and the neptunes produce awesome tracks, many of the songs they produce are made so well that they overshawdow the ability of the singers/rappers who are providing lyrics over the tune. but these producers are only two mainstream producers that are producing awesome tracks that complement the lyrisits ability's too many others are content to just lay down a bass drum, a snares, and then heavily sample someone else's work. a second more distresing issuse is the lack of substance to thelyrics. like kevin and a few others have stated too amny rappers rely on image to sell, i fuckin HATE the gangster image its fuckin lame. they talk about all this shit and how hardcore they are, when their fuckin geeks, being a wannabe is not cool, getting shot is not cool. Fuckin women, having lots of money and doing drugs is cool but not when you talk about it in every single track. i also hate that exco or fsean john shit..its fuckin alme man, and black peopel are the only ones who can really pull the look off, everyone else just looks like a try hard dorkfrom the suburbs...that being said theres alot of dope hip hop otu there but its over shadowed by the crap. the reason for this is because hip hop is big buisness, hip hop is the biggest from of music out there as far as records sales are concerned so everyone is in it cuz they want to make money. No one gives a fuck about the artistic quality of the music because they know if the music is marketed properly theyll sell 500k records in the first week. its because of the popularization of hip hop that alot of it is so bad, and the good stuff is overshadowed.

eventually hip hop will become too popular and something else will replace it, all these trends are cyclical.
